If I swap over the DME from the manual tranny car over into the auto tranny car, will I still get a check tranny light? Will there be any other problems?

Also probably going to swap over the whole EWS system and keys~

Any foreseable problems?

If you are getting a transmission fault light, the transmission module is not happy about something. I don't see a DME swap as fixing that. Best to have the fault codes read out and find out what the problem is.

I would be getting the fault code from the auto DME(?) because it would be a manual to auto swap.

I forgot exactly what it is however for the DME to work properly with the manual tranny and not through the tranny light you need to flash the DME. So could I not just swap the DME? I'm getting all my parts out of the parts car btw.

The automatic transmission has its own DME, located underneath the regular one. Once you get a 5-speed, it becomes obsolete. Run a search on automatic to manual swap for more answers. I believe someone even posted a DIY.

I checked the long auto to manual thread. I even got a quote from MSR and they gave me a quote including a DME flash.

is swapping the DME a way around paying for a DME flash?

I guess I misunderstood what you were doing. Now it sounds like you are replacing an auto with a manual transmission and you have a transmission program fault light. I think all you need to do to get rid of that is to remove the EGS module (transmission computer).

hmmm... where is that located? Is the EGS only on the auto tranny? if its on both, would i need to replace it with a manual tranny EGS?

I am guessing only auto tranny's come with an EGS.

The EGS is only for the automatic transmission.
