1st 2 years owning my car: 1 race. The last 2 days: 4 races.

The best one was the r32, came upon him on the highway, we were both taking it easy b/c of the terrible holes in the road (we live in MI, remember). Young guy, had his girl with him, but i knew it was on when he started getting passed by a grand prix, then hit it to avoid getting pinned behind a semi and dusted the pontiac.

So when I96 changed to smooth as silk for a good long stretch, I caught up to him, looked over and gave him the double-eyebrow raise plus sh**-eating grin, and he laughed. I punched it a little but he didn't follow, and I merged in front of him 30 yards ahead, slightly disappointed. But then he caught me and his girlfriend and I looked at each other and started giggling. So we went on hand signals from all 3 of us, but we managed to coordinate a pretty simultaneous launch from 65 or 70. He hit it just a tad before me and took off 1/2 cl, then I reeled him in and slowly walked him - I looked over and his girl was going "come on, come on" as I went by, urging on the vw. I put about 3/4 cl on him to 125, then I let off as I had traffic coming up in a bit, plus I have too many points :(

We exchanged thumbs-up and laughed about it. As I was exiting, he gave me some brake taps and I gave him the hi-beam love. Cool kids, nice car. He'd have eaten me alive from a dig, esp. since I'm auto. I wonder what would happen from 30 or so?

Anyway, the audi was just now and it was not really a race but I'm throwing it in since it was kinda funny. I had a car in front of me and the A6 and I were side by side, when I heard him get on it a little. We had passed smokey's big blue suburban about 25 yards ago, pulled onto the grass getting his clock on, so I was not about to act the fool, but I did just enough to keep pace with him, until traffic and my office came up. I definitely wasn't trying, and could not tell if he was (it was dark, maybe he's not that bright?), but I assume that from 25 or so like that, I would have eaten his lunch.

The volvo s60 was not a full-out race either, but there was definitely a second or two when we both had it punched. We were doing about 35, got up to like 50 with me pulling pretty hard, put about 2 cls on him to about 50-55mph. This one was tough to call because the dude would not look over, so I don't know maybe he wasn't going all out.

The Hyundai Sonata, however, was balls-out, we both hammered it from a stop. She (young girl, 19 or so, also refused to look over at me) and I had taken off from a couple of lights, and we had no traffic in front. I had pulled away each time, until at the third light I could tell she was ready to get down and dirty. I stayed out of sport mode just to make it more fun, and I was really surprised how long she hung around. We were even until 25mph or so, which I thought was crazy even in regular gear. But I do notice my Dinan chip does practically nothing without sport mode engaged. I like it that way, although I'd much prefer a manual:( Plus it was a V6 Hyundai. I mean it was no Tiburon, but it was still a Hyundai. Sorry, that's snooty and just plain mean. But she tried to race me so I had to lay the smack down.

Good races. Do you usually put it into sport when racing? I just hit the kickdown button and hold on for dear life.
