Only 2000 will be made... only 415 will be coming to America. It's the Cooper S with the John Cooper Works GP Kit.

Wow not bad. 214 hp with the 1.6 4 cylinder.
I still want a mini for a daily.
But for the price they're going at i'd rather pay the extra for an e46 m3.

If they could only make these things rear wheel drive...

People, I'm already making at least that much power with a 2% lightened crank pulley, Milltek complete exhaust replacement and Nology Hotwires on my '05 MCS JCW. Once I get K&N to come up with a replacement cone filter for the POS JCW paper cone, this car will suck and blow with the best of them.

i just got my MINI about a week ago. Ive never been happier. But don't get me wrong I love my E30 too. I'm driving a 2006 JCW MINI Cooper S w/207hp. IF you guys haven't drivin one, you should.

neat
Too bad it's just the regular seats for the interior and not the racing seats, but that's only because the US requires MINI to have the airbags in the side bolsters of the chairs... bummer.
pfft...my car will smoke that GP Kit... =) What a big waste of that extra $$$ I must say... :D

I like the GP. Adds a crowning touch to the last supercharged MINI Cooper S before they bow out.
I really like the way my 2006 MINI Cooper S drives. These cars are an absolute hoot. The only FWD characteristic I've got to get used to is the on-throttle torque the whole car makes and *feels* like it goes slightly to the right, and then off-throttle, shifts to the left a little. Not bad, just different. Handling is spot on and tracks well. Way better than I though it would for a FWD. Overall, it's the total package that makes it for me.
I'll keep mine stock for now [with JCW airbox]. John Buffum told me once, "Thompson, if you can drive your car flat out all the time, then you need an engine with more power". Good advice.

Any one know is it true they are going to build a turboed version? Get rid of the supercharger?

The reason the mini is fwd, is because it is the grandfather of the fwd.... where do you think Honda got the idea of the transverse motor........ Sir Alec Issigonis.

Yes, the 2007 is turbocharged. All new engine design with a composite camshaft from BMW engineering and Peugeot. Checkout Motoringfile.com.
I love the way my Cooper 'ess puts down the power. After RWD Porsche's and Audi quattros for years, I love the total package that BMW designed into this FWD rocket. All good.
