I envy you.... not only do you have an S, but you also got rims for it too.... my car needs so much done to it :( At least its broken in now. I got all the way to 1250 today, should I take it to the dealer to get the oil changed? They didn't mention anything about it..... :dunno

Kyle, you can take your car to the dealer for an oil change, but they are gonna charge you for it. The only free servicing comes when the computer says so. i.e. when the speedo display tells you to.

Yeah, I figured that, any idea how much it would run? They'd surely do a better job than a place like Jiffy Lube or something like that wouldn't they? Would a cheaper place like that even carry the proper oil (Mobil 1 or Syntec) or filter? And yeah, I'd do it myself except here at my aunt and uncle's house there are absolutely no tools, ramps or jackstands whatsoever... so I'm kind of without the necessities :(
Oh yeah, and my right rear tire has a slow leak... so I figure I need to drop the car off at the dealer anyway... would that type of thing be covered by the dealer?
btw: sorry for taking your thread OT ;)

Oil change at Jiffy lube or the dealer would be pricey. Jiffy Lube would consider the car an exotic (don't know why as it's cheaper than a Toyota or Honda) and the synthetic will bump it up to @ $80. Probably the same at the dealer. If you're a CCA member, your dealer may give a discount.
Slow leak? It may be covered. Do you have the run flats?

Yeah, I've got the run flats, and I halfway suspect that it had a slow leak since I got it, and that the dealer knew about it
When I first got the car I checked the tire pressure... simply because I'm anal, and the right rear had 38psi when all the others had 33.... odd, I think, but I'm too lazy to change it right then. A week later when I decided to correct the pressure (I'm lazy, give me a break) they were all at around 33... so I figured I was confused when it first happened. Then, the run flat light went off the next day because the computer only monitors a change in tire pressure, so I cheked them all again... still 33. So I reset the run flat thing and I got another warning yesterday, and the right rear was at 24 psi :( I pumped it up to about 40 and I've been limping around. Anyway, I just typed way too much for the question you asked... so yeah... I'm done...

Beastmaster do you have any other mods to the Mini?
The Beastmaster

No other mods until my intake comes in, hopefully this week!

As for upping the boost, it can be done with a smaller pulley. However, doing so will significantly increase the operating temperature of the SC. For this reason, some tunes have scrapped that idea.

the top looks lighter (and much better in my opinion) than in the first picture. How does it look for real?
The wheels look nice!

The car has the same color top. I just took the pics at different times of the day and at different angles. The after pic is more representative of what my car looks like.

How's the ride with the 18". I heard that the ride can be kinda rough with even the 17" wheels.

IIRC, the 17s come with run-flats, which are notorious for riding like poo.

Well, the car handles even better w/ the 18s. As for ride comfort, it's not much different than w/ the run flats. In fact, it probably rides a little better.
Wow, Beastmaster, that After image of your car makes me want a Mini in the worst kind of way. I've been using it as a wallpaper on my computer for a while now...

Oh yeah. What's the SOP on the break in procedure?
keep below what rpms?
thanks.
The Beastmaster
11-17-2002, 12:27 AM
Keep it below 4500 rpm for the 1st 1200 miles. Of course, I did pass the 4500 mark a few times during break in. Now I just wind it out to 6800 and boy is it fun!
