uh oh... well is all else fails.. you can go to pick a part and get a nice used one for like $20-$30 depending on condition...

i fixed my glovebox latch a couple weeks ago and let me tell you, that instruction on depressing the right side hook is a fucking bitch and a half!!!

take my advice before you go bending and marring up your dash and just do what i ended up doing. Take a dremel to the latch. It will come off pretty easily. Then you have access to the latch components that have failed. Get on it with some pliers. Then replace both the upper and lower sections of the latch. you can swap the lock tumbler over very easily!

Just curious - with the dremel method, do you have to remove the glove box lid? Unless you are a 4 foot tall, three armed contortionist, re-attaching the lid is a huge pain (I've had to do it twice). I found that removing the passenger seat made everything much easier. Good luck.

I got glove box sag,it won't close tight. Is the Dremel system used for this if it is how exactly do you go about it.

you can fix the sag by adjusting either the latch itself, or the bolts on the hinge in the back... it's a pain in the nuts... just make sure to loosen them, not undo them.

I have searched every post on how to open my ^#&*^& glovebox on my 97 735i. Just can't find that cable at the back.
If anyone has any pictures or more detailed writeups... would really appreciate it. BTW whats the dremel method? I am not a DIY but would like to become one.
Thanks.
