I'm in the market for a set of original BMW Type 68 wheels. How can I distinguish genuine BMW Type 68s from the replicas?
Thanks!

I think, and I am not positive on this, that BMW casts the P/Ns on the backs of all of their wheels. I don't think that a replica manufacturer would bother.

I didn't know the type 68 was being copied, where have you seen this before?

Which one is the Type68? are they the ones that come on the 330 sport pkg?

Preppy - You are correct. The Type 68M is the ///M-badged wheel that is sold with the E46 330i sport package. Fronts are 17x7.5 and rears are 17x8.5.
themadhatter - The latest Roundel features a couple of vendors (Discount Tire Direct and The Wheel Exchange) selling replica Type 68s for $150-$175 each.
Considering that a lot of people are getting 330is and getting aftermarket wheels, you could probably get original BMW wheels for $150-$175 each. That seems to be the going rate on e46fanatics.com.
Based on the pictures I have seen, it looks like replica Type 68s lack the recess for the ///M decal.

those guys are notorious for selling knock-off wheels. I guess you're right.
the m68's are staggerred, bmw is printed on the back, ///M sticker is on them, and their finish is I believe titanium silver or the like (one of the bmw silver's) with clearcoat.

Yeah, wheel exchange admits they sell knock offs, that is why their prices are lower than most others.
