Hey guys, a lot earlier than expected, by like 3 years, i have just won myself a 1984 633csi VIN # WBAEB740XE6727778. Its a Malaga 5speed. Repainted in 2002, and the typical rust spots were taken care of then. It has a rebuilt motor in the car, with a replaced clutch and pressure plate. Car has 171000 on the clock, and its not showing.
Front seats were reaphosltered, springs replaced, Korman Chip and K&N filter. Should be picking her up from West By God Virginia next weekend. Got a helluva deal on her too. $2750 :eyecrazy, that was the reserve price on eBay, and none else bid on it! thank god, i can't wait.
Ill see if i can swipe the pictures off of ebay to post them.

looks good.if you get tired of the burgandy,i'll trade you for a white one.a lot of people don't like that color on a 6,but i think it looks great.maybe it's the 68 Cougar XR7 my mom used to drive.Would have been my 1st car if the trans didn't go out.dad wouldn't fix it and practicly gave it away to one of the neighborhood kids that fixed it,and then promptly totaled it.i didn't feel too bad about his misfortune.

Thanks guys, Im going to go pick it up next this coming friday or saturday, so i should have some real pictures up soon. I have never seen a Malaga 6'er before and im excited to see it in person. Well see how it goes, but if i feel its going to get a paint job, im gonna make it graphite metallic, just a favorite color of mine. Ill let you know how everything goes with it, should go smoothly with the rebuilt motor.

Im going to be picking the car up early saturday morning. Cant wait.
But, since its an E24, theres already something on the to do list:
Front brakes.
Im going to do the E34/E32 set up on the car, because thats the wisest choice for an easy upgrade, and parts are cheaper. Found some rotors on eBay for $60 for the front set with FREE shipping. Im going to get the calipers from BMR parts in Cali. I was reading up on Bigcoupe.com about this procedure, and i have a few questions:
1. Has anyone on this forum done this set up?
2. If they did this set up, did they use a 750i master cylinder?
People were saying that the 750 M/C isnt needed, it would just make the pedal feel more like stock. Ill probably end up doing a 750 M/C, but i just want to get the rotors and calipers replaced. And all of this is just bolt on correct? Nothing needs to be fabricated? Thanks for the input guys,

The calipers all bolt up. I had 750 parts all around, but had to get spacers put under the rear rotors to get the right offset so that the calipers would fit correctly. I used front calipers from an E28 and got the pads to fit by shaving the "ramped" areas until they were totally flat. So far, so good for the front, but when I swap the rears from the 79, I am getting the E34 rear rotors so I don't need to use those hokey spacers. I have the E31 front calipers, but I think they are overkill. Maybe I'll put them on when these bite the dust.

Are you sure that car is Malaga? I was pretty sure Malaga went away in the mid 70's. Probably Burgundrot, same as my 83 633 was. Either way, looks like a nice car, but please fix the rear emblems on the trunk!
I have done the 750 brakes several time. The fronts are a direct bolt on, nothing tougher than a stock brake job. You'll love the difference. Rears I used E32 750il calipers, along with vented E34 540i rotors.
My 83 633 had the 750 front, stock rear, and stock master. That car stopped great. My 83 533i had 750 front, 750/540 rear, and a brand new 750 master. That car stops NOW!

Yea, Thanks for the help with the brakes, im sure it will all work out fine for me. As for the burgundy, i wasnt sure of the name, malaga wass the only brgundy color i knew, but thanks for the name that it most likely is. I was going to move the emblems back when i got some time to do it, im more excited to drive the car at this point haha :D.

Well, in an interesting turn of events, just as fast as i had a 6, i dont have one.
PO calls me up saying that he got into an accident with the car last night. Someone pulled out in front of him on an interstate and the car is totalled. Good thing i didnt get the title changed or anything.
But, the search continues, really thought that was the car, but it happens i guess.

Aw man, that is a major blow... I remember when I was in the process of getting mine, I couldn't believe it until I actually saw it, then I still didn't want to call it mine until I made the hefty 500 mile trip home with it. You will find one, don't worry.

Im not sure, and dont feel bad, its in Elizabeth West Virginia, ill ask the owner if he wants to get any money for parts and then send you his email or something. Im sure he wouldnt mind getting some dough for a wrecked 6, what did you want anyway?

Well, I really need the heater control unit that goes behind the panel, and I also am looking for any parts I can get my hands on to do an auto to manual trans swap. I wouldn't mind having that Euro instrument cluster mentioned in the ebay listing... I would appreciate a good word from you.

I am just having rotten luck with trying to find one of these cars. First one sells before i go look for it, second i lose the bid on ebay, 3rd one i win the bid but the car gets wrecked, and the 4th one i went to go look at the car and it was a complete rust bucket. I get there on a rainy day and he says that the wiper motor is shot, and he wanted to raise the price $300 to take one of an 82 automatic with no brake lines and install it! The floors were rusted out, the seats that he claimed were in good condition with no rips, had rips and were so dry it wasnt funny. The bushings seemed non-existent in the rear, and the carpet was trashed. What a waste of 7 hours of drive time to look at that car. The drivetrain was fantastic though, it pulled like new. I offered the guy $1800 with the wiper motor, and he said the lowest he would do is $2100 with the new wiper motor. It would be a good resto-project, but def not worth $2900 that its listed as. Sorry for the rant, this is just frustrating, haha.
