Your Feedback on an Idea I have to protect innocent purchasers

This is inspired by me reading " what is this crap" posting under our general discussions. I want to create a website /forum .. or maybe Bimmerforums can add this to the forum listings..... a place where we can post about BS that is for sale for our cars. Case and point, there is an ebay link on that " what is this crap" posting that takes you to a fuel pressure regulator thing, or something to that effect that claims 20HP. What in the hell??!!! Now, sad thing is that , that listing is one of millions floating out there around and about... and innocent people might actually fall for. We have to find a way to get it out for people to be able to look up and see " tried and true" mods that actually work, and to warn ppl NOT buy crap like this. I can just see someone innocent spending their hard earned money to purchase this... and maybe even hours later watch as they detonate their engine into pieces. How unfair for the consumer!!!!!! What do you all think? This this is a feasable thing... or am I just trying to be Mr. Niceguy?

I agree......things like the one you cite, not to mention the electric supercharger, fuel enrichment trickery, how-to's for tying off crancase recyling hoses, etc., seem to promise what they really can't deliver, seem good ways to waste money, possibly damage our cars, or cause a failed emissions test. If this were a seperate forum I would visit and contribute too. Good idea!

UNtil something like this could be worked out, you could start a thread and ask it to be stickied in BST. It's a start.

Or make up a FAQ like what you want as a document file and alert me. I will host it on my website and there can be a link here. Or perhaps we can host it here.

Alright, next question. Would you guys like this to be part of bimmerforums... or another forum all together? There are a ton of BMW forums out there to begin with.. and while I have no problem hacking out the JAVA to produce another forum, it might be easier making it part of BimmerForums. Let me know and I am going to try to put something together by end of the weekend. Jim, thank you for your offer... I might just take you up on that one.

Yeah, great idea. I submit stuff to ebay all the time that is total BS, like the electric supercharger things that are really marine blower motors..total crap. Good luck
