Damaged Tire

Hi,
While cleaning my wheels on my 530xi, I noticed a scrape on the edge of the wheel and about a half-inch cut in the side-wall. Must have hit a curb. It appears it is just the outer layer of the rubber. Should I be concerned about this? Does it put the tire at risk? Thanks. Joe D.

One of my tires has two big scrapes on the sidewall and the tire shop told me it's fine. I still don't know how I managed to screw up that tire becuase I never hit a curb there (my rim wouldn't let me lie).
