Do you think Hamann body kits go to far?

Need another category;
• Hamann is rice if over done.

I'd vote for that one.

Yeah, if over done it can turn into one big bowl of rice :biglaughb

That's why I hate posting polls (huh! I said polls), I always leave out a choice or two.

I don't mind their individual parts at all, but when they take every single thing they make for a model and slap it onto the same car.... that turns into a big ol bowl pretty damn quickly.

I've never been a big fan of Hamann stuff. It's just too "extreme" there's no middle or opposite end. Either you have something from them which isn't that flashy or you have something or many things that attract a lot of (negative) attention.

WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE TO PUT FLIPPERS ON EVERY DAMN THING? Their kits are so damn UGLY! :az: :dunno :nono :complain :eyes1

I really like my wheels, but I hold off on putting any more Hamann stuff on my car for some of the reasons I've seen here. They seem to either be too stock looking or way over the top with those ugly splitter/flippers on the front air dam. Not really rice to me, but more extreme-euro than I can handle I guess.

I love Hamman wheels and their E46 and E39 kits. Their E65 kit looks awesome too. The only thing is their E36 stuff, it's ugly as hell!!!! :icon15: Other than that I think it's cool.

Uncle Ben's, baby.

I like the "pure" look - just the factory stuff: Motorsport front lips, Evo wings, etc.

I agree with you guy as far as the wing(s) are concerned, but I fell in love with Hamann when I saw the gullwing doors they made for the E46. Now if only they did this for the E30...

Gullwing doors suck scissor doors are better. ;)

+ you won't hit the girls standing next to your car when you open them. :)

I think it's the combintion of "floating bodwork" that people view it as ricey. such as the roof wing combined with the deck wing...two wings too many. :dunno

your car looks great, nice and understated.

I do not personally think that it looks bad.

I really prefer the bodystyle of the E36 over the E46 (just my taste), but I think Hamann's E46 body kits look 100% better than their E36 stuff. Wayyyyy too over-the-top.

I actually think it's hard to beat the M-Technic OEM body kit on a
E36. Some of the ACS stuff is cool, and some Reiger but the OEM still looks great IMO.:D

Nah, Jojo, you're car is HOT! Not ricey. It's the wings, mainly, that contribute to an "Uncle Ben's" appearance.

i think anything can be rice if overdone. i know my wing is rice, but i like it's fit. my rims are bling blingy also, but it's what i wanted. i've also seen many "ricers" driving around with bbs and hamman look alikes more than i do with the type of rims i have. to each his/her own i guess.

I think the more appropriate term would be 'kraut' :D

But seriously, Hamann isn't for everybody. It has a very aggressive look that some love, some don't. Witness the E39 5-series Competition front bumper...some think it's 'kraut', other love it. I happen to be the latter. The front of the E46 M3 looks nice too, with the lip spoiler and the color-keyed foglight surrounds.

But I agree with the last poll option...kraut if overdone. But lots, like Jojo's car, are the epitome of what German tuning is all about...clean, understated lines, with no huge wings or graphics....tuned, yet sophisticated.

Funny you should mention it....

Last year (circa the same time)...

Taken last week...

What do you prefer really? My old bodykit turns more heads at the autoshow, but the current one I have (standard M5) is more elegant, less shocking and a lot cleaner...

...either way, I have both and have loved either one of them.

Hamann's E46 / E39 stuff is ok. It matches the lines of the car. Their E36 stuff tries to actually alter the look of the car (my main objection to E46M3 bumpers on E36s).

It is a strong body kit - you had better have the engine to back it up.

A little is great, too much can turn into rice real quick. I liked their earlier stuff, but some the e46 is nasty
