View Full Version : Purchasing ASA R1's. Need advice?
I just placed my order for these from Tire Rack. I opted for the black face with the machined lip. 18x8 front and 18x9 rear. I'm still not sure what size tire I should go with for the rears though. Its either a 245/35/18 or a 255/35/18.
What do you all suggest I go with? I am running stock suspension, but perhaps plan on upgrading in the future. Do you think I will have any rubbing issues with the 255's, or should I just stick with 245's? Right now I am running 225/40/18 on all four corners with the 18x8 M Par reps. I really like the staggered look though with the bigger lip in the rear.

You could need a fender lip roll with the 255/35R18. If you go with the 225/40R18 and the 245/35R18 you should be good to go. If I can help let me know.
Thank you,

Thanks Jim! I did decide to go with the 245's, since I am assuming it has a shorter sidewall, which is what I want. Also, I don't want to have to worry about running into rubbing issues in the future if I decide to lower the car a bit.
Jim, how much would it be to get some BBS centercaps? I still want the ASA ones too.

255s won't rub in the rear. The only place you might have contact is on a Supersprint muffler can. SS owners have remedied this by putting a small dent in the muffler.
Also, the BBS centercap has clips with a smaller diameter compared to the ASAs. BBS caps will not fit ASA wheels.

So how did the owner of the black e36 in this thread manage to put BBS center caps on his ASA's?

I guess they have different clip configurations. My BBS caps will definitely not fit the ASAs. From the thread you linked, it looks like there's something out there for you. You might want to PM that guy to see how he got them to fit.

The BBS do not fit the ASA wheels. The BMW caps will fit the AR1. If I can help let me know.
