I might have to sell this wonderfull car
It is a 1991 318is with no sunroof
I purchased it from California where it spent all of its life before I purchased it and brought it to Utah.

The car was slavaged in the early part of 2005 because of a small fender bender. Since the it was damaged so late in its life and the repair was greater than the value of the car it was salvavged by the insurance company. I looked very closely at it befor I purchased it and deamed the hit very small and the repair acceptable for the time and the purchase price.

I am a professional Ferrari/Maserati/Lotus mechanic and performed all of the repairs and modifications.

The ball joints on the front contl arms were replaced and the M3 style offset control arm bushings were installed.

I upgraded the suspention for daily use but better than stock performance with Tokico shocks and springs.

I replaced the rear trailing arm bushings with Poly and inserted stiffeners into the rear cross member bushings since the poly ones would have been alittle too hard for daily use.

I installed Eibach swaybars front and rear which were adjustable and helped neutralize the handaling.

I has the stock 14' BBS basket weive wheels with the origional BBS spare unused.

I removed the A/C compresor and condensor along with the hoses to the firewall.

I removed the powersteering resivior and hoses and installed a Z3 rack with new tie rod ends and deleted the hydro system inside the rack and sealed it from the elements.

I installed new cross drilled Zimmerman rotors with carbon ceramic pads and DOT aproved Stainless Steel lines.

It has front and rear stress bars produced by an ex IMSA chassis fabricator which include virticle as well as latteral stiffening on the front and rear stress bars.

I have installed a Mark D chip and an SMT 6 with an Audi MAF conversion and used the SMT 6 to calibrate the MAF.

It has the stock airbox and an ITG panel air filter.

I installed a Magnaflow muffler since a whole system is useless.

It has a lightened M20 flywheel which was machined from the stock 24 lbs to about 14 lbs and the rest of the required parts installed.

I updated the injectors to Ford Mustang 19lbs injectors which have the same flow rate as the stock injectors but are a modern 4 pinlte injector.

I just installed some reground cams produced by Delta cams and have a Tubular 4 into 1 header and high flow cat that I have not installed but would be included in the sale.It also comes with a used MOMO steering wheel.

The interior is in pretty good shape for having 130k miles and the door panels have not been cut for speakers or the back shelf.

The car is the diamond black and other than the front insident it is strait as an arrow.

I am curious what the market will bare on this car, in other words what is it worth to the BMW community if I have to sell it which I would know at the end of the month.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, some pictures could be worth thousands of $$$$.

Post an asking price. Forum rules.

Oh and do not 'bump' unless it has been more than 48 hours.

I am just trying to get an idea as to what people would pay for this car if I do sell it. I may be asking too much at 5k, so what would you pay?

My guess is that the market price for this car might be more like $3-4k. It's a four banger and doesn't have AC anymore.

You might also want to clean the car up a bit and re=take the pictures - even if the potential buyer would be looking at it for a race car.

Mike K
thank you for your possitive input.

I was supprised by the little 1.8l when I first got it and now with all of the mods I have done the car is just a blast to drive and its relativly cheap to drive hard. With agressive driving I get over 20mpg and hwy I get about 30 mpg its like having your cake and eating it too.

you're welcome, it is a very well balanced car i must say... the car is literally "point and shoot" when it comes to handleing

I drive Ferrari's regularly and enjoy my 318is far more. The handaling is more precise and the power is great, yes the power. I have brought out the best with the right mods to the M42 with out sacrificing daily maners.

Wow, that is like a dream 318is, 5k would be a steal for that car, it seems to be the best modded 318is ever...
On a side note how hard was the install of the steering rack? Send me a PM if you don't want to clog up this thread. But I've been hardpressed finding info on that swap for an airbag car.
BTW, bump for a street-legal go-kart.

Thank you for the props
The rack worked out well but it is not easy to do because the alignment of the column to the rack is of so you have to use a double jointed union instead of the single u joint from column to rack.
