Hello again!

I have just spent an hour or so searching on Halogen headlight bulbs. The right, low-beam front bulb just burned out and I was thinking that we might as well upgrade to a better aftermarket bulb. Due do $$$ constrictions, we would like to stay with Halogens instead of spending hundreds of dollars for Xenons.

I have a few questions though. I know that the low-beam bulb for the e39 is an H7, but I am not sure about the wattage. Is it 55 or 100 watts? And after researching, I want to confirm that all of these are acceptable:

- Xenon White bulbs by Hella (http://www.bmpd.com/bmw/parts/catalog/bmp1.shtml)
- Phillips Vision Plus (http://www.autolamps-online.com/halogen/h7.htm)
- H7 XENON Platinum 2-Bulb Set (http://www.demandmotorsports.com/MM006.ASP?pageno=32)
- Halogen Licht Technik GmBH (http://www.supremepowerparts.com/xenone.htm)

Do any of you have experience with these? Any particular ones you suggest? Anything comments would be really appreciated... thanks!

If you have Euro headlamps (Free Form type - not ellipsoids), and are using H7 bulbs go with the 55w.
DO NOT use 100w. These bulbs are too bright, are illegal for public road use in Europe, and Canada, and they may run too hot. They will blow on you frequently as well due to extreme heat build-up inside the lamp.

Any brand name company such as Hella, Osram or Phillips are good.

Stay away from others or ones that make extravagant claims. Coloured bulbs are stupid, and are not very efficient.

Just get the normal H7 55w Osrams or Phillips or Hella.

OK?

Thanks for the info... we'll go with the normal "quality" brands. I guess the only "real" way to make a substantial difference in lighting is to get some real Xenons.

Angel eyes + clears + Xenons sound nice! ;)
