I bought the new E46/M3 convertible - so the E36 is officially for SALE!
More photos at: http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7vbm8/m3photos/index.html
It has 91,750 miles on it as of today.
COLORS: Fern Green with Magma and black 2 tone interior.
Owned by a fanatic - my mechanic friend claims my goal in life is making used cars perfect for the next owner. This one is now perfect so it's time to move on.
Stuff I've done to it since I owned it (bought it at 75,000 miles)
DRIVELINE:
New clutch - everything except the flywheel. Bearings, bolts, pivot points, throwout bearing, throwout fork plus the normal SACHS clutch kit.
New Guibo - the trans had to come out, so..
New Shifter Bushings - ALL bushings and pins, plus UUC delrin carrier bushings. It shifts very nicely and is has almost no play in the pattern.
New Transmission Mounts - stock ones. Stiffer ones are not recommended with the convertibles.
Starter - it had a problem coming out - so it was replaced with a new Bosch one.
Clutch pedal bushings - UUC delrin ones. No play, no noise.
Clutch-delay-valve delete - had to be done after making the rest of the clutch perfect.
Royal-Purple-Synchromax in the trans. It does not exhibit the 5th gear sticking problem.
INTERIOR:
Complete refinishing of all leather surfaces (see http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=80499&highlight=leatherique)
Drivers side seat heaters replaced - the passenger side still worked fine
SUSPENSION:
Front Struts - Monroe Sensatrac (about 5K miles ago.)
Rear Shocks - Monroe Sensatrac (about 5.5K miles ago.)
Rear-Shock-Mounts - when rear shocks were done. Used E46/M3 convertible mounts (the strongest "stock" mounts)
UUC StrutBarbarian front strut brace (this does make a difference on a convertible.)
Factory X brace (standard on the convertible.)
ENGINE/COOLING SYSTEM:
Mobil1 or BMW synthetics used exclusively
Radiator replaced (about 4K miles ago - the old one was fine, this was done as preventative maintenance)
Coolant change w/BMW coolant (when radiator was done)
New thermostat
New aluminum thermostat housing
New belts
New idler-tensioners
EXTRAS/UPGRADES:
ZKW euro-glass headlights with Umitza Predator Angel Eyes
StoneGuard on headlights and fog-lights
Osram EURO Silverstar +50% bulbs throughout (I wrote the article). Option for 6K HID setup if you're interested. Need one new ballast. You buy the ballast, I'll install them.
CD43 "Headunit" - in-dash CD and SUPER sound. Stock look since it IS stock BMW. Makes the HK system really sound good. Original C33 headunit will come with the car also.
DS-II rims and tires - complete set of summer rims and tires. It has the DS-I Motorsport rims on it right now with Pirelli P-ZeroNero M&S with less than 5,000 miles on them. Also several spare DS-I rims - in varying conditions.
Convertible windscreen (and bag for it) - hard and expensive to find, it makes the car a wind-free experience with the top down.
Rear parking distance warning device (PDC in BMW talk..) Display and beeper in the sunglass pocket in the dash. Very handy with the convertible.
UUC StrutBarbarian (as mentioned above under suspension.)
PRICE: $22,000.
New Price: $20,000 OBO
TERMS: No tire kickers, kids who want to just drive one. To drive it - you have to show up with $1,000 CASH deposit in your hand. I hold the deposit while the car is being test-driven. If you don't have the cash - you're not serious and I won't take you as serious so don't bother. There is NO WARRANTY at all - and the car is being bought AS-IS.
That said - EVERYTHING works on the car as it should. It drives, rides and handles as good as it did when new. It is not a car with "issues" - I just have some money to spend and decided a new M3 might be just the thing to spend it on.
There is one minor dent in the leading edge of the hood - it really is hard to see unless it's pointed out to you. I can send a photo if you're interested. There are also the usual paint chips as would be expected with a car with this mileage. The convertible top works PERFECTLY - no problems. It is also the quietest convertible M3 I tried when I was looking - and it's even quieter now (fanatic at work..)
CONTACT ME: Via "send a message" and give me your email address. I'll get back to you with any arrangements.
