I recently got my dad's old car (I'm only 17 yrs old). It's a 1993 525i. I really enjoy the look of it, but it's definately not the "sporty" vehicle which i'd like. It's also not too fast. (anyone know the time from 0-60?) I would prefer to keep my car and do some mods to it. i'm willing to spend anywhere in the ballpark of $1500-2000. I'd like new rims, i still got stock and they're very ugly, any discount places? I've been considering getting a sound system- alpine mp3 head unit, fosgate amp, 2 perfect 12 infinity subs. I need someone else's opinion before i get working on my car. I really appreciate it.

IMO, I wouldn't worry w/ the sound system. After you drop $500-1000 on it, you could have bought a suspension and made the car look and handle better. Definitely go w/a wheel and tire package, as this is is the best and easiest way to make your car look and handle better all at once. Easiest way to make it quicker are the standard intake, chip, and exhaust. You'll gain around 15-20 hp and make it sound better too. As far as 0-60 the automatic is in the ballpark of 8.5 to 60, while the manual is 7.8 or so. Hope this helps. Keep us informed...
