Reluctantly I am considering selling my car in pursuit of something a little bit larger (4 doors, larger trunk, etc). Would consider partial trade for 540 sport or M5. The car is located in the San Fran Bay Area..
Pics upon request (I am a lurker so can't post pics yet). If someone wants to post them for me I can send them to you along with a big thank you in advance.
The Basics:
1998 Dakar Yellow BMW M3 convertible
-Dakar Yellow with Black interior.
-WBSBK9336WEC42196
-5 speed.
-76,000 miles.
-excellent condition inside and out.
-M contour rims w/ new rear tires.
-includes bmw windscreen
-custom stereo (alpine w/ ipod integration, MB Quart components, JL Audio amp and subwoofer)
-performance mods (cosmos CAI, AA Gen III exhaust, conforti shark injector, AA style front strut brace)
-custom alarm (remote raising of top, raising of top during alarm, 2 stage interior sensors)
-have all original parts so car can be returned to completely stock state (exhaust, stereo, etc).
-I am considering trading in the car, but would much rather have it go to someone who will enjoy it (mods and all).
-asking $22k obo. (a little higher than kbb, but in line with NADA).
This is a 3 owner car with a clean carfax (at least last time I checked). The 2nd owner bought it from BMW of Seattle as a CPO. He owned it for a year, and during that year replaced most of the wear items. As of around 50k it has new shocks, front brakes, clutch, etc. Have all records of repairs. The car is currently in great shape mechanically and physically. I had inspection II done recently and it passed with a clean bill of health. All common electrical issues have been addressed (Brake light switch, climate control computer, etc) It also has brand new rear tires.
The only thing it needs in the near future is a probably a new rear plastic window. I have a replacement window and will probably install it this weekend. While the window is in decent shape, there are cracks on both sides (common issue with the design) and has some scratches. It doesn't leak, but the cracks may get worse as time goes on. A good detailer can probably remove most of the scratches.
Mods:
-All the standard bolt on mods (all added within the last year):
-AA Gen III exhaust
-Conforti Shark Injector
-Cosmos CAI (was considering adding the Dinan to make it easier for emisions..)
Stereo:
-Alpine 9833 detachable face cd/mp3 player with iPod integration. (Ipod mounts under center armrest).
-MB Quartz 5 1/4, 1" component speakers w/ external crossovers
-JL Audio 300/4 4 channel amplifier.
-custom subwoofer box with 8" JL audio subwoofer (box is half in trunk and half in the ski pass through to save space). Takes up the approximate depth of the factory 6 disc changer. Amplifier and crossovers are mounted to the back of the box.
My main goal in putting together the stereo was to provide something that is loud enough to hear with the top down at freeway speeds, and take up as little space as possible in the already small trunk. I built the box as small as possible to allow the trunk to still be used for luggage. Also the windscreen still fits with ease.
Alarm:
Clifford 800IQ alarm.
-remote closing of top.
-support BMW double locking
-remote adjustment of sensor sensitivity.
-Raises the top when the alarm goes off.
