Looks good. How's the sound? Feel any difference?

Hey Quest...

The sound is AWESOME! I can understand if some may think it's kinda loud, but to me, it's music to my ears. It has a very deep and bass tone to it.

I know a lot of people fear the low end torque loss when putting on an exhaust that also goes on an M3, but for me, I haven't noticed any decrease of low end torque according to my butt dyno. But then again, I have a CAI on it, so I don't know if that makes any difference. I definitely feel "faster", although part of that could be due to the increased sound.

This is one kick-ass great exhaust, in my opinion.

Glad to hear you like the exhaust.

jwBm.w, you ordered one too? Believe me, it's worth the wait!

I'll add one more impression. I think my car pulls harder now, believe it or not. I was driving it thinking, "damn, this car is fast(er)!"

I wish I could give you dyno numbers but I don't want to do a dyno run until I get my car shark-injected. :D

To anybody who cares...

FYI, I went under the car again tonight to re-check everything, and noticed that I hadn't tightened the bolts holding the muffler/tips all the way. When I did tighten them all the way, the tips were rubbing against the valance big time. I put some of the shims on the bolt, hoping to lower the tips a little, but that wasn't enough. I ended up taking the valance off and shaving it with my swiss army knife. It took a while, but I ended up with satisfying results. It's a good thing that the plastic was soft enough to cut with the big blade on my knife. I recommend using a dremel with a sanding bit or something if you want to do it quick and easy. I did it the hard way with my knife, proceeding a little at a time.

FYI, the mounting tabs on the muffler part of the exhaust has two holes, so that you can mount the exhaust about an inch lower than stock. This, in my case would not have helped, but for those with aftermarket rear bumpers, it's a nice touch.

Finally, if I had gone to Home Depot and picked up a few more washers to use as shims, I probably would have been able to get by without shaving. But I didn't mind shaving and I had already done some to begin with, so I just finished the job.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope it helps any future DIY'ers who are planning on getting and mounting the AWESOME UUC TSE...

Any more pictures? Sounds clips? :) I have a 328is also.

Hey Preppy, it's hard for me to take pictures because I don't own a digi-cam. A friend of mine at work is supposed to get a new one that does video clips too, so I'll try to borrow it this coming week. :)

Stay tuned for a video clip (It's 6MB so I need to trim it down and compress it first).

Sweet! BTW, I wouldn't mind listening to the unedited version :)

Damn!... I just love staring at those FAT/PHAT tips! They are so choice:D:D

I asked Rob when I ordered mine if I'd have to trim the valance and he informed me that I wouldn't. I mean, that's ok as I don't mind :) but :dunno

Just curious, when did you order yours? I ordered on the 18th of Sep. . Of course I new they were back-ordered :::wringing hands with anticipation:::

Hey jwBm.w

I ordered mine on 8/30, and I got it on 9/23. WELL worth the wait!!! =)

If you buy a few additional washers to use as shims, you may not have to shave your valance (or as the Bentley manual calls it, the "lower rear bumper"). I had to shave about 1/8-1/4 inch all around to make it look the way it is, but I'm sure I could have just bought some extra washers. Like I said before, I already started the job so I just finished it.

I love it!

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is the video. It was a major pain in the ass to convert it first from .mov to .avi, then finally to .wmv. Quicktime movies SUCK ASS (when it comes to converting it to another format)!!!

Here's a tip, download mov2avi and mov2avigui (search for it on google) if you're interested in converting .mov files to .avi. Then get the free MS Windows Media Encoder 7.1 to make it a .wmv file. It compressed a 4MB file into 692K. Not bad!

Sorry for the wait, here's the video:

edit: The beeping noise in the background is NOT from the exhaust. :) The pager of the coworker who's camera I borrowed to film this clip was going off. (BTW, the Minolta Dimage F100 is what was used to capture this clip.)
