I'm new to this forum, but am selling my 1997 M3 4 dr sedan. I've had it since 2000, and its a good running car.
You can see images of it at:
web.mac.com/geoffreyg/iWeb/Site/BMW%20M3.html
Its listed for $15,500, please adjust that to $14,500.
it has the following issues:
mechanical: needs rotors
cosmetic some modest body stuff, shown in pics. Not a 10/10 car, closer to an 8/10. Nice driver, but if you want a show car for perfection, this is not for you.
Reason for sale: I have older cars that are my real love, and want something for every day a bit fresher (Audi A3), so I can tinker with my Lancia Aurelia (hows that for obscure?).
Have service records since I've owned it. Also comes with a spare set of wheels and tires. Eager to move on, and don't want to trade it to a dealer.
Thanks,
Geoff Goldberg

A few points - I could have washed the engine bay, but chose to leave it as it was, and not tart it up. Maybe that was the wrong choice, but at least it is being represented as a driver, and that's what it is. I've tried to be straight up as to what the car is.
Service wise, not too much. Had no major issues - no radiator, no head work, just some injector cleaning and exhaust canister (?) replacement. I think there is a small leak at the cam cover, but nothing severe. All the stuff works, but the door lock on one side is sometimes (20% of the time) started to stick. Other than that, motor, synchros and trans are fine, suspension fine (rear shock mounts done in 2000, shocks still fine), back seat creaks a bit in the cold (what else is new?). A good working car, and hard to give up. Its just time for a change my wife wants a softer ride.

A couple of ways:
the big mainline guys, Passport, Intercity. Probably cost about $1k.
the smaller individuals, who advertise in Hemmings, or may be known to you or your mechanic - may be about 60-75% of what the big ones cost.
Best bet - a friend, and an airplane ticket!
