The tires are due for replacement. Currently, they are shod with Kumho Escta MXs and for $ vs performance they can't be beat. Also, there are a few door dings [rant on]from people who don't really give a crap about other people's property as evidenced by it being on the Pax side[/rant off]. Anyhow, they can all be fixed by Paintless Dent Removal. Please refer to the price part for your options.

The car was in a minor accident in 2003. When I say minor the only damage to the other car (pickup) was a bent muffler. On the Coupe the hood was dented enough for replacement, the headlight lens was cracked so the whole unit had to be replaced (BMW doesn't sell the lens seperately), and the bumper cover was scratched so that too was replaced. I have the receipt from repairs. The paint match and repairs is superb, wouldn't even know from a detailed inspection.

Once again thanks guys for all those nice compliments!

Calicoupe...bwahahahaha...dirty jersey....hmm...well I have heard it called worse. Anyhow, yes, the car was purchased from a dealer in Manhattan when I was living in Hoboken, NJ. The car was there till June of last year when I moved here to sunny, but wtf its freezing, LA. As far as underbody rust etc. None that I have found. I suppose it is that way because I commuted to work on the subway so the car was relagated to weekend and errand duty. Then during the winter months I rarely took it outside when it was wet. When it was snowing? Forget about it! I shudder at the thought of driving in even in a 1/2" of snow with high performace summer tires on. I can think of less stressful ways to hurt myself. Like shooting myself in the leg.

If you want pictures of the underbody that is not covered by the plastic underbody tray let me know. I think I could jack up the car real fast and sneak in a quick photo.

Cheers

Tom

I have no doubt that the S54 M coupe is going to become a collectible classic. Hopefully I can afford to buy one before they do so.:)

lol, shush leftcoast...don't want to put ideas into people's heads!

in all seriousness, though, try me and see. i will answer every e-mail and take every call.

i totally agree with cacatfish! yet, as much as would like to keep the coupe, i really do need the garage space. i am about to embark on a (some say crazy) adventure of a frame up restoration of a 69 jaguar xke (e-type) roadster. sooooo...torn between two mistresses.

to answer z3speed4me, yup it has the extended warranty on the engine. the time is based upon the in service date of the car, so...till sometime around Nov 2007.

btw, thanks for looking guys!

cheers

have you had anyone look at the rear subframe?

Tomo
03-02-2006, 02:08 PM
I haven't had anyone look at the subframe. Having said that, ever since reports of it came out, I have been looking under the car like a nervous ninny.

The last time I looked under the car was approx 1200 miles ago. At that time I saw no visual evidence. Also, I haven't had any audio evidence of subframe seperation. People with subframe seperation reported hearing a popping sound etc over when there was a weight shift. The car neither has popping, creaking, rumbling, grinding, etc sounds over rough/uneven/smooth etc pavement.

Anyhow, without those visual or auditory cues I can not justify tearing apart the rear hatch area and removing glued in sound deading material too look for it.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Tom
