View Full Version : 95 Hellrot M3 Widebody Rear

Bav///Man
02-18-2006, 02:29 AM
Hello all,

As the title states, I am thinking about selling my 95 M3 with a custom widebody rear. This rear allows you to fit rims with an E46 M3 offset on an E36 M3. I am currently running 18X9.5 et22 with a 275 tire. The fenders are made from 325 body panels and are welded in.

~80,500 miles. The car just had an inspection 2 done and the engine is extremely strong. Power steering hoses were just fixed along with diff seals, tie rod assemblies, valve cover gasket, serpentine belts, and an alignment.

Mods include:
Stromung Exhaust
Bilstein/H+R Sport
Cosmos Intake
24 lb injectors
TMS/Conforti Chip
540i HFM
UUC Pedals
Custom fog light delete with holes cut for intake
Black out grills (newer than the ones shown and in perfect condition)
Clears all around

The wheels that come with the car are Hamann style 17X8.5 and 17X10 in the rear.

The car really drives well. This may sound stupid, but I honestly get teary when thinking about selling this thing.

Asking 18k/obo...will entertain offers so don't be shy.

Any interior pics? And also whats your asking price for it??

Bav///Man
02-18-2006, 02:56 AM
No interior pics at the moment, it's black leather w/vaders.

As far as asking price, it's only a feeler so I am basically wanting people to throw out numbers for what they think it is worth. I'm obviously expecting more because of the price of the custom body work, but I'm very reasonable and would like to hear what you guys think.

80k miles....as far as price range....I have one in mind but I'd first like to hear what people want to throw out. You don't have to be stuck to your number, I just want to hear guesses.

I've worked on this car a bit (installing the ZKW's and HID's), and fixing a couple of the little minute details that no one notices but Dave, who is madly in love with his car. Drives like a dream, and the pictures don't do it justice. The car is really flawlessly done. The widebody is like a work of art.

I'll be sad to see it go.

I did post an asking price and have now modified the orignal post. But I'm still not afraid of Preppy. :stickoutt

VIN is WBSBF9324SEH05992

The front lip is correct on the pictures that were taken in front of the athletic building with the gray E36. The pictures from Jersey shows how the front end used to look. I swapped it out. My recommendation would be to not get a fiberglass lip, especially when it is so close to the ground!

Were the exterior moldings removed and painted? Reason I ask is that I would be interested in going back to black moldings all around, including the bumpers.

Bav///Man
02-27-2006, 09:27 PM
Yes, moldings were removed and painted. Black moldings would fit everywhere except where they are custom (just cut a few inches really) near the rear fenders to accomodate for the flares. Any adequate body shop would have no trouble with such a simple modification.

Nice car, man. Really like the fenders and got a couple questions.

How was the bumper and side skirts made wider? Bondo, plastic what?

Are the fenders all metal? I know you mentioned something about 325 fenders, but how is exactly was it all put together?

Was the trim just trimmed? How did you make the end of the trim look normal?

Roughly how much did all the body work cost?

Thanks a bunch.

Dave has been neglecting his thread, so I'll do my best here... I'll call him and tell him to correct me where I make mistakes when I get off work.

The fenders are sheet metal and were made from 325i fenders (so as not to leave the car out of comission forever). The skirts are widened with fiberglass.

Basically (from what I've seen and understand) they found a wrecked 325 and cut off the fenders, and added on sheetmetal to widen it. The sheetmetal was then shaped to the widebody and welded into place. Body filler was used to smooth the edges, and give it the nice look you see in the pictures.

The trim was just trimmed and sanded down to match. Its also painted, so you can't see the sanding work done, it flows pretty nicely and looks stock.

I can't speak to how much it cost...

Ok, now its starting to make more sense. By fenders, do you mean quarter panels? I also call the fronts fenders and the rear quarter panels.

I am really interest in how much that cost to have done, because it looks great.

Hey Dave, if you would've posted this 2 months earlier I would've gave you 20k for my old car back =( it's a shame, ohh well congrats to the new owner who ever it may be.

Just to answere a few of the questions that came up, the cost was basically nothing to me due to a good friend who owns the shop. He did quote me 5k just for shits and giggles, I paid for materials and that's it. The fenders are made of other BMW body panels cut into very tiny squares and welded into place to give it rigidity (i have pictures of the process). The flares were then grinded down smooth and layered with filler to make it nice and smooth.
The skirts and bumpers were also made of BMW Bumpers cut into guides and then layered with fiberglass, filler, and painted. The quality of the work is amazing and your not gonna see a ding or dent that easily on the flares like the rest of the body panels. In fact to prove to me how strong the flares were, my body guy hit it with piece of wood and it didn't even leave a mark.
The inside of the quarters were prepped and smoothed to accomodate the large tires (i was running 275's on a set of 19" wheels).
When buying wheels I was having the car measured for a set of HRE's and was originally supposed to go with a set of 19x12 in the rear with 300mm tires. I came into money issues and just settled for 19x10's maya stm's.

And that was some history on this M3, hope this helps some of you prospective buyers out. (sorry for sloppy writing, im at work and internet is a no no. :devillook )

Hello,

Thanks for your email, the answers to my questions were well accepted.

I have spoken to my client and he has instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier cheque of $25,500is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client.

Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you ,because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque, so you are required to deduct cost of your car $18,000payment gets to you and refund balance $7,500 to my clients shippers via western union money transfer for them to be able to offset shipping charges down here and from there.

After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him, our agent will come for inspection/pick-up and take it to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer, while title papers and other necessary documents will be either collected from you at the point of pick-up or sent via fedex courier to my customer.

Confirm this and provide

1)Name (cheque will be made payable to),

2)Address ( the check will be deliverred to) and Phone number for check payment to be delivered to you via registerred mail.

Thanks...

Dave ... Didn't you just put a TT Stage 2 on this car?????? And you're selling it??? How much? Your original post said 18k ... that cant be right ... with the TT kit. I apologize if im getting lost in all this ... but I read in the FI forum that you put a TT kit on your car. Is this the car? :confused

Otherwise ... that car is freakin beautiful. Get me the details.

EDIT: ok im an idiot. you got 2 red e36 m3's. i got confused. regardless ... awesome car GL with the sale!
