I just have a quick question....
I have a set of BBS Bugatti rims on my 90 325i..........

The rims are a goldish color with a 1 inch aluminum machined lip!!
I am wanting to paint these rims silver with a clearcoat finish...
should i do this myself or have it professionally done....cause i dont want to do it myself and have it look like crap.....
I know alot about the e30 BMW but im not excellent with rims.......

Also....if i have them professionally repainted.....how much will it cost and where can i get it done..

Thanks a lot to everyone

Ill show pics of my sweet e30 soon!!!!!!

Go for powder coating. I have been quoted between US$60 and 75 each wheel for any of about 70 colors (including about 6 silvers). Check with your local wheel/tire shops or check the yellow pages for powder coating shops.

If you get your wheels powder coated, do you (or they) apply a clearcoat on top??

Not necessarily. But you can. There are different finish powders - flat, semi-gloss, high gloss. The powdercoating is so durable I think clear coating would only hurt the look in the future.

Correct me if I'm wrong here... But doesn't the powder coating process include "baking" the wheels to get the powder to adhere to the surface? How does this affect the strength and/or elasticity of the metal? Or am I just being too much of a worry-wort?
