intake sound

ok so i recently bought a shit load of sound deadening. most fo it is done. however i also bought some of the stuff to put on the underside of the hood. i dont want it to suck up the sound of my intake though because i love it. i was just wondering where the sound comes from (have not yet bought intake so can't tell for myself haha), is it the engine or the intake itself. if it is just the intake area then i am going to do 3/4 of my hood and just not do the corner where the intake is located. if its the engine i will probably just return it or..... (your ideas here)

what do you all think? any ideas?

sounds going to be coming from the intake, the engine will be making the sound, but you'll hear it from the intake.
