I might have an opportunity to buy a European BMW tax free and with a mild discount. Does anyone know what I will have to do to this bimmer inorder to bring it back to Canada and pass inspection? How diff can a euro '330 and a Cdn/US spec '04 330 be? Also, I would have a choice as to what model I would buy just thinking about the 330. I just don't want to get a deal the car bring it back to Canada and have to spend $5000 to get it road legal.

I e-mailed Customs Canada and asked them enquireing about a specific car, they need the specific model, had a reply within hours with a list of things I'd need to modify and a form to print out with a checklist the crate inspector would use to make sure it's free of any contaminants.

U.K. (the only place near Europe with right hand drive besides Ireland) isn't really considered part of Europe, although Ireland is part of the European Union to make things more cunfusing. The mainland France, Italy, Russia, Germany ect.. Is what is know as (eastern/western) Europe, and use left hand drive Like we do on this side of the pond.

Don't know what your deal is but if you are buying a new car in Europe you might be able to buy the import version at a big discount, and not need to do any conversion at all. Used to be able to drive it around Europe for a while and then bring it back (to the US) as a duty free used car.

Yea if I was buying a new car over there I could have it ordered with Cdn specs, however I don't have the cash to buy new and was thinking of a two yr old model so that would already have the Euro specs, what ever that is.

If i buy a new BMW i would buy it from europe, because look at our e36s...
we didn't get the euro ellipsoids, glass foglights, 2 fog lights switches, and God knows what else we didn't get.
