I've got 235/40/17 yokohama es100 all around. I'm pretty sure 245 will fit fine on a stock suspension.

Goddd dammit Im having a hard time deciding betwen 235's and 245's, anyone wanna help me in deciding this lol, I hear 245's rub, then I see people running 255's saying they dont run, I dont really want to pay (do you?) to have my fenders rolled....

search on bf.c for members in your area who have the tool and can rent it out to you or simply let you borrow it. also check out bmw clubs and the CCA, they give tools out for free, at least in chicago area. i'm not much of a track guy but i love my setup especially the rears. i only did a little rolling andthey fit fine

Hankook RS-2 z212 235/40x17
Toyo RA-1 235/40x17

245's would probably fit fine, depending on wheel offset, camber, tire section width etc.

Had the 235/40/17 all around before. No probs.

Then last summer I went with the M3 staggered set-up for a try. 225/45/17 front & 245/40/17 rear. No rubbing at all - it's close though!. On et40 rims. 17x8 rims. The 245's look just right on an 8" rim. Michelin Pilot Sports.

Also. Running on stock sport pkg suspension. Only thing with my current set-up is you CAN'T rotate tires.

I'm just running 16's. 225/50's to be exact. Kumho 712's....and I'm not too impressed with them. They flat spot overnight and I get a bumpy ride halfway to work every morning until they warm up. I'd avoid the 712's if I were you.

235/45/17 kumho ecsta 711's good for a cheap tire but it sucks in the wet and on painted pavement (traffic pattern arrows, etc)

but for 76 bucks a pop from tirerack.com... i can live with them

I've got 245/40/17 Toyo T1-Rs on 17x8.5s in the rear with sport suspension, and no rubbing, even in autocross. not sure if you can fit 245s on 17x8.5 in the front though? i have 235/40/17 on 17x7.5s in the front. Toyos have much better grip than my older dunlop fm901, in rain, autox and dry. Definately get the biggest tires you can get, you can take turns faster. But if you get a staggered setup with 245s or 255s in the rear and a smaller size in the front, you're going to have a little bit of understeer unless you have sway bars or suspension to counter it.

noone with Falkens so far?

I have 225/50/16 Falken 512s
I like them.
A great cheap tire that is pretty sticky.

I got a set of 4 for $280 shipped online from Edge Racing.

the 215 is the WIDTH of the tire...

the larger the number the wider it is (and more expensive)

The width and profile (2nd number) of the tire is based on the size of the wheel. The larger the wheel the wider it will be. With a wider wheel you need a wider tire...

235/40/18 - rubbed pretty badly until I rolled the fenders...

Kumho MX's 245-40-17 on BBS RG-R's 17x8 all around, no rubbing at all. H&r OE sport springs, and Koni's. Wheel offset will determine if a particular combo will rub. Some tires are wider than others for the same section width. S-O3's are wide, for example.
