Well, it was a good run while it lasted, but my 1989 325i Convert, lost it's timing belt yesterday. The head is not cracked but the valves are shot.

Bavarian Enterprises of Harrisburg PA tells me that it needs lots of work, valves, and of course the belt.

As this is my daily driver, i need to cut my losses and sell the car so i can buy another. The engine has about 200,000 miles on it, and ran great until the belt went. The A/C and the heat worked great, the body is in decent shape, no rust at all. The top is in fair condition. The seats are also in pretty good shape, all of the power windows, door locks, and mirrors worked fine. As did the original radio, power antenna, heated seats and trip computer.

The car has brand new Tie-rods and front struts, as well as brand new Falken tires on the front. I was just about to replace the front bearings on the passenger side, the new ones are in the trunk.

The car is in Harrisburg, PA. It is registered in FL, as i just moved to PA about a year ago. The car spent it's whole life until a year ago in the FL sun. Garage kept always.

I am entertaining offers, i would like to get at least $2000 for the car, but you are the experts, let me know what you will offer.

I have lots of pictures email me if you are interestedIf you are interested, let me know... avirfl@lelcs.com

Bavarian Enterprise is a bunch of clowns. They tried to rip me off when i wanted to buy a car. I would get a second opinion on fixing it if i were you.

If you can do the head off and on work yourself - you'll save about a grand in labor. REfurbishing a head only costs about 6-800 from a good machine shop.

Example - when I had my E30 325i - bought it with busted belt - yanked the head - rocker arm shaft boss broken between intakes 4-5 and 5-6 - refurbishing (all exhaust valves new and a couple of intakes I forget now exactly, but all exhaust def.) and the welding, it was either 640 or 680 - and that was from a Very reputable machine shop here and they pressure tested it as well. so it can be done on the cheap -

FWIW - I think you'll have a tough time getting 2g out of it needing an engine job of that nature.
