Competing Model

I got a '94 318i, and was wondering, if at the time when the car came out, if there was any compition, or cars in the same class, trying to outclass my model. Just to look into the spec comparison.

Pretty much any other 4 cyls. I would assume. It ceratinly looked better than much anything else at the time, still does in my book ;)

Yeah, I love my car. But I was wondering what would be the closet mercedes, amd possibly jaguar or any other companies that are in range?

Mercedes had the C220 more or less. No Jaguar would be compared to a 318, more likely a 5 series. The early Infinities, Acuras and maybe VW had a car or two to compare to the 3 series, but the 318 was always put against 4 cylinders because of an underperforming engine for its class. Not to knock 318's, I have one and it's fun to drive, but it was always the 325 that had the huge list that it went against in the reviews and comparisions.
