I'm considering a Z4 M roadster when they become available, so I would have to sell my beautiful Ti Silver/black-grey 01 M roadster which just turned 14,000 mi. This car is and has been garage kept since I bought it in Dec 01. It's only been driven on sunny weekends and has made two trips to Orlando. It is absolutely showroom perfect inside and out, no door dings, glossy paint, perfect leather, carpet and top. It has never had any damage whatsoever (unless BMW damaged it before I bought it, which I doubt). All maintenance has been done well ahead of schedule, and I have complete records of all maintenance and modifications. You can see my mods listed below, everything is first quality, installed and dialed in by me. I built and raced various sports cars in the 70's and 80's, although this car has NEVER been in any competition event of any kind. I am well aware of the bearing issue with the S54, and this car has been carefully and gently warmed up, and even then was driven carefully and responsibly. The 2 Blackstone reports have been perfect, with lead at 2ppm. I can assure you that time-at-redline with this engine is no more than a few seconds, in four years. (BMW can verify this).
The BFG G-force sport tires are brand new, the OZ 18" 3 piece wheels are perfect and beautifully balanced. I have a few spares/extras; black car cover, wind deflector, Peake tools (codes and air bag), stock exhaust, stock front calipers, some other misc stuff. The 100k engine warranty has 2 years left.

Let me know if you're interested, I'll email you some more photos. The price won't be cheap, around $33,000. But you'll get a car in perfect condition, with a nice, balanced mod package, and a car that's rocket fast.

Very interesting. Just curious why you would upgrade to the new M Roadster given that both have the same motors in it which I would think would be the first and foremost reason other pre-2001 M roadster owners would be doing it.

I did happen to see the new M Roadster at the auto show and it is beautiful.

I may be interested, I'll touch base with you in a week

Where in Ft. Lauderdale are you? I'm not buying a car, but I would love to see it (maybe get a drive? haha). That thing is a beaut!

If you need someone to detail (full exterior and interior) I'd be more than willing! I won't get many other chances to touch a S54 Roadster with that low miles!

Good luck to you nonetheless.

Uhhh, how about a more modern suspension and better chasis rigidity? sound like good reason enough to upgrade.

Yes, everybody talks about the suspension and the chassis flex on the M roadster, but here's my opinion. Many performance cars being made today have this exact setup: Mac-struts up front and semi-trailing arms in the rear. Properly set up with shorter, firmer springs, shocks, stiffer swaybars, the soft bushings replaced with urethane ones, and also lower profile wider tires, these cars will out-handle most everything out there. And mine does it very comfortably, the ride is never harsh or abusive. About chassis flex, I simply don't feel it, and don't know why others complain about it. The competition cars I've built had extensive roll cages, a must for chassis stiffening and safety, but, I don't know, maybe I'm numb in my 50's, I just don't feel a lot of flex in this car.

About the Z4M, I haven't made up my mind. I've owned a variety of street cars, and most likely will get something different, something exotic. I didn't mention it in the first post, but I really want a 360 Modena, if I can find a used one I like and can swing the financing.

just for everyone's information, an added bonus in buying this car will be that everyone in the Z3 section will be uber jealous and probably sweat you. This is a really fine example. That rear-end reinforcement, as well as the dual-ear diff is key. This car was clearly done right.

Thanks for the nice compliments. It's gonna be damn hard, if not impossible to part with this car.

so was the car brought in for the bearing problem?

No. I've set 2 oil samples to Blackstone, both show the lead at 2ppm, less than even non-bearing-problem engines. Obviously, BMW would do no repair to an engine this solid. And there is 2 years left on the 100,000 mi/6 yr engine warranty.

I still would love to simply SEE the car. I wonder if there are any meets in the near future.
