Who cares? if you find the car you want you should be willing to travel to get it. If you want local, this isn't the place to look...my last 5 cars have come from NC, VA, SC, FL and TX.

Not everyone can travel across the country for a car they like. It would make it easier on everyone if you put the state your in in the title. That way you dont have to click on EVERY SINGLE post to see if theres a car in a reasonable distance from where youre at

BUMP!

STATE IN TITLE
PRICE IN THREAD.

Serious, I understand everyone wants to get the most money but nothing is more annoying then having to email/pm a person a dozen times only to find they are on crack about thier asking price. Many forums have moved to manditory price and location.

Location is another one, have it in the title or at least bold and obvious in the thread so one can quickly glance. I to have no problem driving for a car that is what I want but it helps in figuring the Price as well. If I'm going from Virgina to SoCal that is at least anther $1,000 in the asking price, which I in many cases don't even know till after you have to spam the seller.

The worst is when a seller asks just for "offers" and then gets bent out of shape that none or few of the offers he is getting are all "low ballers". So sorry I feel your 1989 RX-7 GTU with 180k some dents and a 8 hour drive from me is only worth $1,200 if I pick it up.

I too would like to see location in title, and mandatory price in thread. :mad

Keep in mind this is just an enthusiast's forum. Yeah, it would be great if the classifed section was set up like autotrader.com where you could easily sort on different data (including price, location, etc.). But bimmerforums.com does not have the resources of an autotrader.com. So appreciate the forum for what it is, less than perfect but still free advertising and a good place for buyers and seller to come together.

Why are you making excuses as to why there shouldn't be this rule? What does something like putting your location in the thread title have anything whatsoever to do with "resources"? The topic starter never suggested to have things sorted by price or location as you brought up. It's a simple thing to do, and it should be required. I know on other forums I'm on, if you don't put the location in your title, you get a message from a moderator and a locked thread.

My point was that if you don't make this a mandatory (automated) field not everyone is going to put the state in the title. But thanks for reading b/t the lines. The classifed section of this forum is an adequate resource. Having the state in the title would be a moderately nice enhancement for some. But not everyone places the same level of importance on this type of minutia.

Im not sure how location could be termed "minutia". Its a crappy feeling when you see the title "99 E36 M3 IMMACULATE 24K MILES GRANDMA OWNED $10k" and then its in Portland, Maine. (obivously hypothetical situation, unfortunately =)). I dont think it should be a mandatory, but a simple NH- or CA- or TX- would be nice.

No reason what so ever NOT to put it into the title. There are a lot of poeple who are looking somewhat locally (me for example), and it just wastes everyone's time, and the servers bandwidth when we have to go open every single thread to find the location and price.
