I just bought a Porsche 944 Turbo with 225/35/18's in the front and 225/40/18's on the rear! The rims are 18" by 8" in the front and 18" by 10" on the rear.
Is a 225 tire safe on a 10" rim?
My question is why would that be done? What is the advantage?
I'm sure anyone with more knowledge than me could help. Is it just for looks?
Thanks

Either to be cheap or to go for the ghetto "euro" look by stretching the tire. I would not recommend doing it at all. I realize they are already on there but you should look into a 255+ tire for a 10" rim.

It was definitly not done so save money, if you knew the previous owner you would undersatnd. I thought there my have been some preformance reasons?
My main concern is saftey. The funny thing is the tire does not look "stretched" over the rim. It looks like a good fit.

Some people dont like their wheels to look like bus tires :rolleyes
He could have done it for fitment reasons. It gives a lower profile so you would have more room between the tire and the fender.....
