In bentley it says to lubricate the throttle linkages. How exactly do I do this, and what should I use? My throttle pedal travel feels almost gritty. Do you think that this is most likely the cause?

It's probably a good idea. I haven't done mine in the past 10 years, so I better do it :)
I'd probably chose a spray silicon lubricant, or maybe a spray-on grease. Bike chain lubricant (the waxy stuff like White Lightening) might work too.

Tri-Flow and a cable lubricator.

cable lubricator clamps onto the end of the cable to help force the lube into the casing.

How would one go about doing such a lubrication...?

If the cage cables are anything like BMW's bike cables - they are nylon lined. The old steel on steel stuff went away a few decades ago.

Nylon doesn't like lubricants. It tends to absorb them and swell up - causing the cable to bind and cut into the nylon liner. Lots of people have ruined perfectly good BMW bike throttle cables that way.

It is much more likely the pedal linkage or the throttle-body linkage is causing this. If not - then it's time to replace - not lube - the cable. You really don't want a sticking throttle cable - it can make life WAY too interesting.

So I should use a spray type lubricant. Can I just douse the throttle body with the stuff? And then use the same spray lubricant for my pedal linkages?

I've never done it, not a problem for me.
