I received an email from Meguiars that made a big deal about a new wheel brush...so I popped for the $14 and tried it out....

Whoa nellie!! this thing works great....The brush has long bristles that are very soft and it cleans into all the creases and crannies in my oem doublespokes... the handle reverses for the right angle for the upper rim and wheel to help an old mans knees....I have a collection of wheel brushes and have only had modest success with them...this brush seems to work well and I am staying dryer...dry is a good thing for a winter car wash brush.....

check it out I think it get's the car 's wheels clean and is easier on me,...

A paint brush would have cost you less.

I think I prefer a brush designed for car washing which is a lot bigger...most paint brushes have metal which can scratch or chip expensive wheels....I would think the face of the oem split spoke would be hard to get clean with a paint brush in a few strokes...the thing about the new brush is it's big and will do the rim and all 20 spokes in 2 wet wheel/submerge brush/wash upper half of wheel/submerge brush/wash lower half of wheel /flush wheel and rinse detail patterns....

too much detail for those not into detailing.....

I have the same brush and I'm really not that into it. I've never used the rotating face feature because I could never get it to turn. Regardless of that if I could do it all over again I'd get a paintbrush and wrap some electrical tape around the metal part.

I don't get the attraction to the paint brush for cleaning wheels. I tried it and it was a pain in the @#* I will stick to using my old microfiber towels the final stop before they get thrown away.

I like using sponges. They work great and are easy on the finish.

The best wheel brush by far is BMW's wheel brush. I've gone through the other Meguiars wheel brush and Zymol's wheel brush, and neither compare to BMW's. It's cheap too!

I use old washmitts. They always progress from the car to the wheel as they get older.. Works for me..

Half the battle is finding the right wheel cleaner spray, then its easy.

That's part of my problem. I haven't decided on a spray cleaner yet and have just been using regular soap suds. It's tough to find a spray that is strong enough to do its job, but soft enough to not damage any of the wheel types.

I used the old wash mitts too and had a system of rotation but these OEM 18's have way too many grooves/slots/edges....so I tried brushes...in fact I have tried 5 different brushes including the BMW brush mentioned and didn't think it helped....that's why I got excited when I got this brush and it worked so well.....I'm not trying to pump Meguiars products but this brush works as advertised....

Trust me we're setting a record for rainy days here in Seattle this year and car washing in the rain is a waste of time .....My car needs it's bath bad.

Im pretty happy with the mothers wheel cleaner.. Spray it onto the dry wheel, give it a min, then wash the wheel with mitt and running water..

Anyone know an even better wheel cleaner? Tried the bmw stuff - not as good as mothers..

Simple Green and the Huge Mr. Clean Super Soft Car Wash Brush in the Auto Section at Target. It's got huge long soft green tipped bristles. A couple sprays to each wheel, then a brush around the lip, then quick scrub on each spoke and the center section (maybe 30 secs max) and each wheel is gleaming.....(DSII's)

I've fought with different cleaners and brushes over the years, this is the first real quick and effective solution I've found. Its friggen quick and easy!

Crappy picture but all I could find....it's about 10-12" long and huge....tons of bristles that get into everything.

Never have diluted it and have been using it for wheels and under the hood since '99 with no problems.....I use the big spray bottle version.

For anyone keeping score...it is now steadily raining for the 23rd day out of the last 24 days here in Seattle and it's forecast to rain for the next 7 days which is as far as they forecast....I've washed the e46 m3 5 times in the rain pulled it into the garage, dried it off and sat there looking at it clean until I had to take it somewhere and within 2 miles it was filthy again....The Meguiars Wheel Brush is working well but it's just a waste of time to clean the car...Noah... I 'm going to need that ark......

I haven't tried Mothers but I've tried many others: Simple Green (good), Amazing Roll-Off (good), Menzerna (good), Eagle1 AtoZ (great), and my own proprietary stuff I call 'green stuff' but it's so toxic I have to wear a haz mat suit and send neighbourhood kids to the movies when I use it so I'm not going to divulge the formula.
The Menzerna goes on really thick so the efficiency drops while I spread it around manually.
The Eagle1 A2Z goes on foamy and sticks around and penetrates well and does a great job on stuff like baked on winter road salt (on my winter driver).
A stiff short narrow bristle brush lessens tiresome scrubbing.
The Coupe's wheels never get more than a light dusting so the Eagle1 a2Z with a sash brush (duct taped) cleans them up exceptionally quickly.
The toxic green stuff works even better than the Eagle 1 but it's time consuming to apply, including the suit, running in, spritzing, running back, getting the fire hoze, spritzing again, removing suit, checking tires for drippage and melted rubber, inspecting concrete for new holes, patching, etc.
Maybe I'll try the Mother's next, I'm always up for exploring different products,
thanks for the head's up,
-John C.

I hear you on the rain issue. 27 straight days of it, one day break then right back into it again. I can't wait for some nice weather. I've been wanting to detail the car for a while.
I just got this brush tonight so I'll try it out this weekend.
