Is it hard to convert the climate control from celsius to fahrenheit? do you need a special tool? labor cost? thanks guys!

I test drove a 98 m3/3 the other day and the dual climate control was in celsius, 21 degrees celsius to be exact. (This is inside the car btw). the climate control works and you can still adjust it, but its just that it is in celsius.

I think it was in 96 they went to digital. They AREN'T analog in the newer e36s. I think it would be cool to have it in celsius.. heh

If you change the outside tempature control to celsius the HVAC controls change as well. Change the outside one to fahrenheit and i believe the HVAC ones should change as well. You do this by turning the display know by the odemeter reset know. Turn and hold I believe. Hope this helps.

"You do this by turning the display know by the odemeter reset know"

He shouldn't bother reposting because he is wrong. The obc has nothing to do with the electronic climate control. I just posted about this a couple of days ago... definitely searchable...

But I digress.... The unit needs to be hooked up to a bmw dealer computer. The operation takes a matter of minutes but they like to charge an hour of labor. I suggest you try to fenagle (spelling?) getting it for free. Its very lame that they charge for this.

Yes, when you change the climate control as I did, ie., mine was failing due to removal too many times whiile installing my gauges, it comes from the "fatherland" in Celsius, I just left it. Not going to pay the "stealer" to reset it to Fahrenheit. I never went by the actual degree temp setting anyway, just till it was comfortable in the car. Frankly I think the electronic climate control is a useless trinket, would rather have had an oil temp gauge like the Euro M's instead of an idiotic MPG gauge in the instrument cluster.

Just my 2 cents.

I replaced mine and it was in celcius. Dealer charged 40 bucks i think. Pretty lame, but i wanted it changed
