Hi,

When I unthread the fan switch from the radiator, should coolant come squirting or dribbling out? I cant get my auxillary fan to turn on to I am trying to diagnose why that is. If somehow the coolant wasnt coming out of the hole in the radiator where the switch goes, does that mean there is an air bubble blocking hot coolant from reaching the switch?

Thing is, there is dried coolant that has leaked out of that seal (fan switch gasket) because I didnt tighten it enough indicating to me that there is coolant at the fan switch at some point.

Sorry to be long winded but any help you guys can render will be appreciated!

I just want my aux cooling fan to work!

Yes, the switch screws into the side tank of the radiator, it should have coolant pouring out when you remove it. Get a new seal ring every time you remove it. They are cheap, I get a bunch whenever I go to the dealer. If you have the switch out, you can test it with a multimeter, and a pan of water on the stove. As the water heats up check that the switch works. Stock switch works at 91C and 98C.

Install the switch
turn heat to full on
fill radiator with water/coolant mix
start car
open bleeder on top of the expansion tank
let car fully warm up
top off coolant as necessary.
close bleeder when bubbles stop.
go drive car
let cool and refill as necessary

your's sounds like there is a leak so you should remove and get a new crush washer like mentioned.

as far as testing the aux fan switch, you can unclip the wiring harness from it and test it while it is still installed in the car too.

Thanks guys, question is, I bled the hell out of the cooling system (there were no more bubbles coming out of the bleed crew) and last night when the car was really warm, I pulled the fan switch out and there was not one drop of coolant that came out of the threaded hole. Yet, there is evidence that coolant has been leaking from the crush wahser. So how could there be collant enough to leak and not coolant when I unthread the switch? Thanks......

can't really contribute much to this thread, but coolant was coming out of my fan switch too when I tried to remove it. So I just threaded it back in for now haha.
