Would using a directional tire the wrong direction for maybe 50 miles cause that to go flat?

Also, seperate question. Can I still buy OEM rims for an E36 from BMW or do I have to buy replicas?
Thanks.

It shouldn't go flat because of that. For most directional tires, use them the wrong way and you'll give up a bit of the grip (mostly wet grip).

Thanks alot, that's what I figured there's no way it would have gone flat that quickly.

BTW, nice sig:buttrock

Running directional tires backwards will not cause the tire to go flat. However, it may cause tread separation!

The only thing you will give up is wet traction in standing water. We did a tire test running the directional tires the wrong way and the dry grip was the same.

Dude, its Tire Rack, I would be worried if he didn't chime in with some test they did.

In Tire Rack we trust!

Otherwise, youcan easily find some real OEM rims on the forums from the guys who are upgrading thier wheels. Someone is always selling thier rims.

We even did a test where we mismatched tires and found out why it is not a good idea.

Can you just post some general conclusions? ;)

Duh, that was the point. It's good for them to know we appreciate it.

I run my tires the wrong way at the track to help out with tire wear, same grip, you sometimes get a lip on the tread from being 'pulled' backwards, no big deal.

Interesting. I had always heard (and read in a text book) that running a directional tire backwards would cause excessive heat buildup, which could (theoretically) cause the tread to separate from the carcase. Myth busted???
