Anyone use wheel spacers to lower the offset of your stock wheels?

I'm back on my stockers and am wondering if this is practical for handling and appearance purposes.

I used to have +35 wheels which were fairly flush and looked decent with my GC coilovers.

I believe the stockers are +40 or +45, I don't remember.

stockers are not that high, its around 38mm-40mm for E36s

I must have been thinking of 40mm.

Do 5-10mm spacers even work with stock wheels?

Before I had my 18's, I ran around with 10mm Rogue spacers and lugs on the stock e36 bottlecaps.
I had to use the spacers to clear my coilovers (PSS-9), and had no problems.

Like GoFast said, with the right length lugs there should be no problem.

Thanks for the responses, I'll update the thread if I put some on. High offset sucks!

Not to try and sound like an idiot or anything but what exactly do wheel spacers do? Is it mandatory to buy them for like 17" aftermarket rims? Im asking because Im closing to buying some 17" Breyton Inspirations and was told I need spacers up front...

nope, i mean it depends on the offset

some suspension setups require it.

i wont lie, im doing it to get rid of my sunken in offset look on these stockers. i feel that with spacers and some alright tires (kumho SPTs) i'll be in better shape.

You may not need 2 sets... If you have the same offset on all 4 wheels, and you only need a max of 12mm on the front, I'll put money down that you won't need them for the rear.

To answer an earlier question, yes I run 12mm spacers in front even on my OEM wheels "just because I can". However, I also have studs on all 4 corners, so it doesn't matter if I run spacers or not, I can fit anything without issues.

What? No, I need spacers for all for OEM wheels. The second set comes Friday.

Post pics of your stockers + 12mms.

I've been waiting to get my camera back for outside shots. The difference is not huge (skinny stock wheels), but it is noticeable.

If anyone wants to make a straight trade - my 10mm for your 12mm - then pm me. If not, I don't care, the difference wouldn't be much. I'll post pics for those interested ASAP.
