Has anyone every bought anything(performance) off of ebay? There is a set on ebay right now for an 36 for 280 + shipping. It includes headers and "track pipe" or downpipe (whatever you call it).
For 280, if it is really true, it would be stupid to pass on it, but I don't know about the quality. I was just wondering if anyone has had any succeses or any horror stories.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding fleebay exhaust parts lately. The general thought was that if it's not a known name brand, it's likely crap. It may work fine, but life-span is questionable. Track pipes are pretty much just a piece of pipe however so I don't see how you could go wrong there (though I really don't understand why people pay that much for two short sections of piping :rolleyes ).

I def agree with that on the track pipe, AA wants like 600 for it. But, I don't know, for less than 300, a new set of headers and down pipe.. that sounds pretty good.

You get what you pay for.

The shit they sell on ebay is just chromed S52 headers. At least that is what it looks like. You won't get any gains, and will probably lose power.

Ok... first off. The Ebay headers are not junk, they are real (the long tube headers). 2nd off the shorty style are NOT S52 headers chromed, if you look closely the primary pattern is different, however for performance sake they are identical to S52s with the convenience of no OBD2 holds to fill up.

those are the long tube headers. They are $270 on ebay. I'm sick and tired of so many morons on this forum talking out of there ass, and since there are so few people on this forum with enough testicles to actually try something unknown I will PERSONALLY purchase a set and do a full writeup of the Ebay headers in a week or two (hell I was the first person to ever own a set of AA headers so i figure i'd be the best person to do this). I will take hi-res close shots of the welds and etc. I need a set of headers for my M50 swap in my E30 anyways, so these should do just fine. Just based on the pictures alone they look of decent quality and are similar to AA headers (though not identical). They don't come with the track pipe merge y-pipe for one and also based on the pictures i want to say teh AA headers are 1 5/8th diameter and the ebay ones are 1.5" (i could be wrong, they could be identical, just going by pictuers) but other then that they look identical. I will confirm this once i buy the set with a set of digital calipers to get exact measurements of all its dimentions.

I will be the first to say that if you want to prove a point about these headers, you're going to have to do a baseline dyno, which means having the stock m50 headers on first, then the ebay tubes in question. It won't matter what data you get, without a baseline, 80% of the people on this forum (justified or not) will disregard it. Best of luck if you go through with it.

I will post my write-up soon... and i don't give a flying f*ck about 80% of the people on this forum so that works out perfectly :) . They have been doubting me for years and i prove them wrong every single time. I will post my results of the headers and my initial impression of the header quality and etc and compare versus the other long tube headers.

Thanks man. Way too many people "think" things on ebay are crap. That is just not true. And think everything from known vendors are GOLD. It cost no more than $50 to make and ship to US but just adding the name AA = $600?
Im not saying it is good or bad but give it a world and prove it false before jumpping on the wagon.

I will admit, there are a few true gems on Ebay. The Mason Engineering strut bar comes to mind. I hope this turns out to fall into that same category.

I'm looking foward to you trying them too. But don't get me wrong. I didn't say everything on ebay was junk, which was the reason I was looking on there in the first place. The header system looks reverse engineered from the AA set. That wasn't what was in question. I'm a student right now trying to pay my own way. I don't have enough $$ to possibly waste the unknown. I was just asking if anyone else had any experience with this. And there is plenty of junk on ebay. Type in E36 M3 and tell me how many E46 grills and coffee can mufflers there are.

woah, i'm agreeing with supa, but you are 100% correct.

Because you spent money on a product you are now an expert on exhaust design? Spending money doesn't mean you have any clue of what you are talking about.

You continue to say you were the first to have AA headers, you were not. I know for a fact, so please stop trying to brag or make yourself out to be some sort special e-person, its lame and really sad.

That 80% of just sit back and laugh at your posts, i'm just hope new people to the forum don't listen to you and take your word as truth.

They have been doubting me for years and i prove them wrong every single time.

:lol This one actually made me laugh out loud. You have proved nothing, you dynoed your car once and it proved nothing about the "amazing" gains you claimed.

Show me one time you have proved someone wrong with fact, not your outlandish claims from your different mods, actual fact. I can't wait for you review, it will probably say they are great and have crazy power gains, but aren't as good as AA's for some small reason. Do you even know what a fully penetrated weld looks like?

Mr. OmeyHomey(for the OG) stop trying so hard.

Any updates SupaBimma? I also want to see this. Judging by the price ratio when compared to AA's ($250/$1295=.19, which corresponds to .19*7hp=1.35hp) if you get an increase of more then 1.35hp then they are worth the money in my opinion.

ya getting the headers soon, just waiting for funds to accumulate.
