It's prolly not a real dinan chip but real dinan software on a cloned chip which is essentially exactly the same.
so would it work the same as the dinan chip?

Yeah it's just a blank chipped burned with the dinan software, basically all the 300 bucks you're paying for is R&D that Dinan did or claims they did. That guy is cutting the cost and you're getting the savings, it's underhanded but whatever works.

Not to mention any legal or moral issues with stealing (however unknowingly) Dinan's software if indeed that's what's occurring here. Also, the seller has a few negative feedback ratings, one being relatively recent. I'd stay away for both these reasons.

Also, you don't know for sure that it is Dinan software... it could be conforti or some other brand, you just really don't know. I would prefer to buy from a distributor and know what I'm getting. Especially when dealing with something that could destroy the engine if it doesn't work properly.

Quality of a blank chip? Silicon is silicon... if it keeps whatever you save on it, it's all good.
PS: Before someone jumps on this, I'm talking about the hardware only ("blank chip"), not the software (data).

General rule of thumb about trust, especially on ebay: If you have to ask, the answer is no.

I would look for a JimmyC or AA chip....
yeah, i agree, just wanted an outside opinion.
btw, i have heard alot about dinan, and most of it is bad, so the moral aspect is out of the question.
ill just get the jimc chip when funds allow

I already said no even before I read the thread.. :lol
--- my point, go with your instincts. If you QUESTION IT... then look else where. wouldn't be worth it. Better safe than sorry.:nono

Sorry to burst your bubble...
Silicon microchips DO degrade with use and fail over time. The actual "silicon" does not break down, but the transistors do. Low "quality" chips are not tested as thoroughly so it's the luck of the draw -- you could get something that lasts 100 million cycles (forever), or it could die on you for no apparent reason the next day.
There IS a reason why some chips are more expensive than others...

I found someone else selling the same thing. http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZtomboy2025
A few days ago he was selling a dozen of em, claims they are all working pulls from other vehicles. So would you think that basically someone got the program somewhere, (im assuming if its real, they bought one chip and are using that), burned it onto their own chips, use a sticker, and are saying they are dinan?

Do you really want to trust your motors life with some guy on ebay's chip? I wouldn't. The ECU is the heart of your car. If something goes south, a lot can go wrong in a short amount of time.
Well, somebody bought it now anyway.
Looks like they kept their user id private. Otherwise we should ask them if it works.

It's about illegal as MP3's when you don't own it. Which if you still don't know, it's NOT LEGAL.
