well today i was standing at a red light and when it turned green instead of going i let someone in becuase they were pulling out of a parking lot.... but idiot behind me saw the green light and assumed i was going and gunned it hitting me....

so watever i ended up gettin 350 dollars cash out of him after a few estimates... cause god forbid i went trough insurance esp since im 18 and deductible is 500 which is more then the repair...

i need some advice on wether i shud jsut take that money and fix the bumper or add a few bucks and get the M5 body kit ? is it worth it ... anyone know a good place to get the M body kit.... i also ask cuase i have been plannin on getting new exhaust so the M5 rear apron might be better because i wouldnt have to cut anything out.... i dont know......
any comments and suggestions welcome... thanks

Is New York one of those stupid no-fault insurance states? If not there's no reason for you to not report this to your insurance, it's 100% the retards fault for hitting you and his insurance should be paying for any repair, not yours.

No-fault has nothing to do with property damage. :nono

No-fault has nothing to do with property damage.

What are you talking about? If the guy rear ended him, that guy is liable. That's what liability insurance is for.

you should have reported it. Your rates legally can not go up if you are not at fault for the accident.

You should have gotten a police report and filed a claim through his insurance company...

in NY the insurance will go up even if the accident is not your fault, I have had problems with Allstate, General accident insurance, and Geico..... they would say we will not increase your premiums, but they would go up 300-500bucks a year in the next installment.

There is no law that they can't raise your rates. It is usually up to the insurance company, their policies, and determining factors.

In CA, insurance companies seem to like to split the blame. Like, it could be 90% the other guy's fault and 10% his fault or some BS like that. If NY does that, and the accident is any percentage his fault, his rates would probably go up.

Regardless of who's at fault, I think the OP exaggerated when he said the guy behind him 'gunned it.' If body shop estimates were only about $350, then it sounds more like he just got bumped lightly. $350 doesn't do much more than repaint a bumper (if youre lucky), never mind whatever damage was actually caused to the little bumper shocks or metal beam behind the bumper.

even worse, I heard of stories where a ins. kicks you out b/c of excessive claims...and then you get blacklisted with many ins. comapnies.:help
