Here's some pic's of the radio hardwired. I made use out of the enormous ashtray that I sometimes forgot was even there. I absolutely hate seeing wires, so hardwiring was a must. I took the plastic cover off the front of the ashtray and cut the metal tray to make a mounting bracket. I also had to cut the plastic casing behind the metal tray. I ran the power wires fom a cirgarette lighter adapter directly to the back of the cigarette lighter. Finally, I spliced the wires from the adaptor and connected them to the cigarrete socket with 2 butt connectors. Was pretty easy, just time consuming to get all of the pieces out from behind the ashtray.
-Sorry about the crappy pic's, but it won't stop raining in this godforsaken state.

I like the install..the suction cup, double sided tape mounts stink. I sell car-audio stuff and thats a nice install man, A+ job on the fabrication

here's my install. didn't hard wire or hard mount the unit, but ran the cig adapter under the center console and antenna through the center console and under the rear seats.

BMW sells an adapter that plugs into the flashlight plug in the glovebox and gives you a cigarette lighter plug in the glovebox. If you got it and ran the power in the glovebox you could conceal the power plug. I did it on my 98 and it looks great plus the adapter powers on and off with the ignition.

Were you talking to me or egreaves20?? The power cord is concealed in my car. I only took off the carpet paneling to give people an idea how to run the cigarrete lighter cable into the adaptor. I totally forgot that the glovebox had that flashlight socket. :)
