Guys,
I took a long road trip over the holidays, and somewhere along the line the cruise control started acting up. Basically, it's no longer compensating for changes in the grade of the road, i.e. if I set the cruise control on a level road, the car slows down when I go up a hill, and then resumes the correct speed when the road gets level again. Also, it's no longer responding to the + (speed increase) switch after I engage the cruise control using that same switch.
I'm assuming the cruise control module is failing, unless someone can shed other light on this. Can anyone tell me where the module is located in the car, and how big a deal it is to change it? The car is a '98 540iA.
