I spoke to Dick Chiang of DynoSpotRacing who said
that to go 1MPH faster in the 1/4 mile you need an
additional 8 to 10 HP.

Can anyone verify this?

How about this question:

I'll be switching from the stock 10 spoke wheels to
16.5 lb BBS RKs (that's about a 6 lb drop for each wheel). So if losing 1 lb from unsprung weight results
in a 3 lbs savings I can expect to see about a 80lbs
weight savings on my car?

OK taking this a little further. If I take out the spare
and only run 5 gallons of gas in the tank ( a gallon
of gas is 6lbs?? x 11 gallons == 66 lb weight savings)
and the spare is 44 lbs -- I should be able to save
100lbs??

With the wheels, spare and gas combo I could be saving
about 200 lbs???
