I got a set of hid's from a friend that have d2s bulbs. They have been tested and work perfect in my car, but im trying to think of the best way to mount the bulbs in my housings. There is obviously no way to mount them using my curresnt h7 sockets. Is there a d2s socket that mounts into the headlight available?
Anyone got any ideas other than just getting h7 hid bulbs?

PM m_specs as he has adapters for the lights. If not, you'll have to pull the H7 bulbs from the holders, break off the connector then grind out the back end to fit the bulb in.

On the left is the ignitor and the d2s bulb that im trying to retrofit. On the right is the h7 bulb and socket.
Added to the issues i already have, if i can get the d2s bulb in the same position where the old bulb was, the socket for the d2s has some clearance issues with the housing.
It looks like i might be able to get another h7 socket from the dealer and modify it to fit the d2s bulb, but the clearance problem stated above is still an issue.
This is going to be fun....

If you're gonna make a mold for polyurethane adapters, m_specs beat you to it. Like I said he makes the adapters with a grip at the end to make it easier to screw the bulb into the holder. I didn't know I had to drill out the plug, but was too anxious to order and wait. So I just chopped up my plugs and the HIDs work fine in my E39.

This is what needs to be done to the holders. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425129
And here's m_spec's adapters. He lives in SoCal. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5477853&postcount=10

I was looking at those threads the same time you posted them... anyways. It looks like all of the applications i have seen are with h7 or 9006 bulbs (looks like the wired mcculoch bulbs). Im trying to to it with a different bulb, so i dont think his adapters will work with my application, but im going to get in contact with him since he lives a whole 15min or so away.
Thanks for your help!

do you have wire leads on your bulbs, or are they like the ones i have shown?

hmm... i dont really see any issues w/ utilizing the H7 adaptors.. you basically bond the D2s bulb base to the adaptors and youre set..
as for the clearance issue.. i cant advise on that because im not familiar.. youre more than welcome to meet up w/ me in OC and we'll test the clearance (w/out bonding). It'd benefit both myself and others to know what HID applications these H7 adaptors could work for.
I got your PM, so hit me up any time.. tues-fri im free after 5pm.
..thanks beastmaster for the referral.

I didn't even bond them to the old housings. I just snugged them up and they don't move. As for the wires, they are a part of the bulb so I had to fish them through the adapted housing. The kit I used was umnitza's Prolumen 5000k.
If I had to do it again, I'd go with m_specs' adapters. They should be simple plug and play.
