Simply stated, I am trying to figure out if the rims I want to buy will fit with a fender roll and a light negative camber, or if I'm going to have to go widebody with my ride.

Please give me examples of wheel sizes that clear very close to the strut without rubbing. The best example was a guy said he had 18x8.5 et43 and they barely cleared the strut on the inside. Does that sound accurate from others experiences? I can figure out tire size (probably 255/35/18 for a little extra squish).

Also, can a fender roll make up for as much as an inch? If I needed an inch (before negative camber) of extra space would a fender roll cut it?

Finally, here are the sizes of wheels that I want to get: 18x9.5 et24mm. They are M5 rims, but with the 2.5" lip, and they look just sick. I've always loved those rims and I saw another M5 the other day with the wider rims and I followed him for 20 minutes just so I could see his nice-ass rims stopped and going!

TIA a lot I very much appreciate all the help!

EDIT: Deep lip for your viewing pleasure:

I run 18x8.5 with et35 which would be very close, but my fenders are rolled and flaired very flat as well as some cutting has been done.

With that wide of a wheel and that low of an offset, you will have to really really really really really stress your fenders to roll that flat and flair that much. If you are dead set on those wheels, widebody would be much smarter

The M5 wheels will not fit without modification to the fenders. The offset and width of the wheels are way too wide. The wide body kit would be needed.

Thanks guys! That's what I needed to know. For now I'll just get the 18x8.5 et41 and roll with that. I AM doing a widebody next spring when I had planned to paint the whole car anyways so I'll get them after that!

Thanks again!

Exactly how much max negative camber can you apply in the rear and still have decent wear ? I have a staggered setup 0f 19x8 and 19x9.5s.. I rolled the fenders but still rub on big dips in the rear and wanted to lower it still...:help

I've been told that as much as -3.75o is still acceptable for wear and traction. :dunno

We'll probably get a little better response when it's not 2:30 in the morning.... :D

somebody makes a replica of that M5 wheel for E36 and E46 fitment, not sure where I saw it though.

HAHA no.

At -3.75 you will tear your tires apart. Hell when i am at the track, i only run -1 up front and -2 in the back

Oh, I know. 18x8.5 et41mm - only $729, mounted balanced etc. I just like the extra 1.5" of lip and the wider tire size :D

Really? I don't know... I'll have to find that post, but it was from a pretty experienced guy who's had tons of different wheels on his car... it might be because he is already a widebody kit. If you have spacers and a widebody kit maybe -3.75 is able to be done. Personally I don't think I'd want to run that much negative camber, but it's been done.

So at -2 I should get decent tire wear ? I will not be able to rotate because of staggered setup..
