why won't it fit on E36? Roll fenders to make it fit

With those low offsets they will probably rub in the inner wheel well of an E36,
maybe they could fit with some spacers?

you will probably have to roll fenders. you do not add spacers...if you add spacers the offsets get lower...

These won't fit a E36 or E46 without a widebody for that matter. You would have to cut out your fenders, these won't work... What the hell did you have them on?

you dont need to go widebody or cut fenders with these offsets...
do you know what rolled fenders and pulled fenders are? they will fit flush if you roll and pull your fenders

I am not trying to be an ass, so I apoligize (I looked at the thread with general interest...). But what car did you have these on, there is no way in hell you had these on a 3 series non E46 M3 with just "pulled fenders". The offset would work on the rear of a E46 M3 and that's it. I am interested, just confused as to how these could even remotely work. Throw us some pics on the car, not too much to ask.

I think the person who I bought these wheel off of gave me the wrong offsets. The front wheels have such a small lip so I don't think the offset is right for such a low offset. These HRE wheels don't have the offsets listed on the inner wheel either.

Buy the wheels
Pay a guy to go up and complete the deal in person.
Pay to have the wheels shipped to me.
Order new tires.
Have the new tires mounted and balanced.
Go to mount the wheels.....

...AND THE WHEELS DON'T FIT!
The inner hub diameter is too small...meaning, these were NEVER mounted on a BMW, which also makes me doubt the offsets listed are correct!

So what do I do?
I have f*cking 2700.00 wrapped up into wheels and tires, that now dont fit my car!

WOW
Whats the specs on the back of the wheels? it should say ET NUMBER

Are these even 5x120 bolt pattern? if they are they should be atleast 72.56 center bore which is the center bore on the E34 that is based on my knowledge since i deal with rims and tires for a living.
If its not 72.56 and it is indeed 74.1 like the E39 then you can open the center bore to 74.1....i have a CNC machine with a pro machinist on site who can do that.

Bimmerfreak....this post is kind of skeptical because HRE should proffesional knowledgable people and yet they are giving away wrong info on their wheels?

just talked to HRE and they said the front wheels offset are +20 and the rear wheel offsets are +15 and that the front would fit but the rear might need spacers for non m

Spacer for the rear for 15 offset? thats wrong cause that would just bring the down offset even more and make the wheels stick out and possibly rub the fender.

Good offset for the rear for a 9.5 rim is about 20-25 depending on the style of the rim.

Yeah, lets just say that Eric Pan (the seller) totally f*cked me on this one...
I have a call into HRE, and so far they have been very helpful.

What I do know;
The wheels WILL NOT fit onto my E34.
The center bore is way too small!

The offsets are 20(F) and 15(R) but there is a question about the bolt pattern.

So we have;
ET 20 and E15 wheels, with a center bore SMALLER than 72.56, and it looks like a bolt pattern of 5X115 or 117 (still waiting on a call back from HRE)

I havent been able to get in touch with Eric Pan (go figure) but I hope I will be able to contact him, and get him to explain this to me.

With those offsets im guessing its a 5x114.3 lug pattern and probably a 66.1 center bore which is good for like 350Z/G35.

No such pattern as 5x117 and 5x115 is equivelent to 5x114.3.

You can take the wheels to an aftermarket rim shop and they should be able to measure the PCD (lug pattern) with a pcd guage.

BimmerFreak

Great. Thanks for the info.

So, I guess I need to;
A. Choke the crap out of Mr. Eric Pan
B. Confirm the fitment
C. Sell the wheels and new tires to someone with the correct fitment
or D. Buy a 350Z :)

I will take one of the wheels down to my local (15 miles away) aftermarket wheel shop, and see if they can measure these for me.

According to this; if they are 5X114.3, then will try to sell them to a Nissan owner.

Alot of cars are 5x114.3 lug pattern but most of them cant fit such a LOW offset....the wheels will stick out and rub the fender.
You would probably have an easier time to sell these if they didnt have such a low offset.

Not alot of cars on the road take a low offset besides SUV/Trucks and cars like 350Z/G35,5,6,7,8 series etc. etc.

I suggest you give these back to the seller even if you lost some money on the shipping because you will have a tough time selling them.

Dam,i do feel your pain though....you were excited like a kid getting these wheels put on the car and got screwed,sorry dude.

I wouldnt buy a set of wheels unless its locally or from a company.

If you want something 18" staggered i have something i can offer you good prices on.

The seller just confirmed the wheels came off of a Nissan;

the guy who sold it to me had a nissan 240sx. the guy
told me he bought it from a guy who owned a bmw and
that is why the bolt pattern is 5x120, he used
adapters to make it fit on his nissan, thas what he
said. this is why i sold it on the bimmer forums
because they were 5x120 bolt pattern. the guy i bought
it off of did not say anything about the center bore.

I can confirm that these wheels ARE NOT 5X120....

Thanks Ryan, but I actually paid to have someone go inspect them, pay Eric in cash, and then ship them to me.

There was no way the guy picking them up would have known the center bore and bolt pattern was wrong.

I would test fit into my E30 M3 to be sure since HRE and other high end rim manufacture would not print the offet or bolt pattern on the rims (they kept them as a secret). I actually saw he posted on the local Craiglist. I almost went there to see them.
Oh well, good luck on resale of the rims. I doubt you can get the money back from seller (bad sellers are everywhere).

Here is where the seller stands with this deal;

when i called hre and provided them with the serial
numbers, they seemed hesitant to help me. the guy said
that they had no way of knowing what car the wheels
were made for. i called a second time on a different
day and it was a lady who helped me. she gave me the
offsets of the wheels andconfirmed that they were
5x120 bolt pattern. if i was told they were 5x114.3
why wouldn't i have just sold the wheels on a
different car forum.

i don't know how you got hre to tell you so much
information about the wheels, since i had a failed
attempt at doing so from them. you should go down to a
local wheel shop and have it measured because i don't
trust hre's customer service.

i based the specs of the wheels from the previous
person i bought it off of and the info hre told me.
the guy who i bought it from stated that it didn't fit
on his nissan and that he used 5x114.2 to 5x120
adapters to make it fit. i bought the wheels before i
crashed my bimmer and that is why i never test fitted
them.

i don't know what i can do for you at this point. you
can sell the wheels to whatever car it fits.

Cliffnotes;
He thinks I should just sell them to someone that can use them.:confused

BimmerFreak
02-03-2006, 09:07 PM
More of his insight;

like i said... i listed the wheels descriptions based
on what i was told by the guy i bought it off of and
what hre had told me. i did not deliberately give out
false information. i had measured the widths with a
ruler and they came out to be 8" wide front and 10"
wide rear, so i am skeptical on hre's info.

again, why would the wheels be 5x114.3 when the guy i
bought it off of said it was 5x120...why didnt he just
sell it to someone with 5x114.3? the only information
i didn't provide was the center bore because i didn't
know anything about that.

can't you just sell the wheels for a much higher price
because you have new tires? i also did give you the
wheels at a much lower price than what i had paid them
for. you can also sell the used tires that i gave you.

Cliffnotes;
His solution is for me to just sell the wheels...He accepts ZERO responsibilty in this.:mad

BimmerFreak
02-03-2006, 09:16 PM
Oh The Drama!!! :eek:

So, for the record; I emailed the seller my solution to this;

1. 100% refund for the wheels
2. Pay for shipping of the wheels back to him.

I would;
1. eat the cost of shipping the wheels to me.
2. eat the cost of having someone go pick them up, box them, and ship out
3. eat the cost of purchasing new tires, and having them mounted and balanced.

Here is his reply;

i am not going to give you a refund. you bought the
wheels and that is that. if you don't like them then
sell them. you should of had duke mount them on his
car to test fit them before having him ship them to
you.

Im that buddy and I do have a 88 Mitsu ESI-R.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I might be interested in them. Those wheels look like the same wheels that were on a 88 ESI-R that was on the cover of "Sportscar" years ago...

I agree though 2700 is more than most ESI-R's are worth these days. What do you want for them?
