Hello all.
I was going over the things one can do to a M30 for more power, and I remembered that you can replace the bulky metal flap AFM with a slick hot screen MAF. Does anybody know which PN or years/makes MAF I can switch? I'll be bouncing up to a pick and pull so I want to grab the right thing.

I may be mistaken - but I dont' think that they ever put an MAF on an M30 from the factory -
I know that they use them now on the M50 and later iterations - but don't think it's a direct bolt on - ie - I'm pretty sure you've got to "tune" it - basically make the computer understand what it's looking at - the aftermarket MAF kits that BAV and BMP sell talk about some sort of re-mapping being necessary.

Hm, ok, so I'd need to do it the same time I get an aftermarket chip. Fair enough. I'm a little suprised, though, as a lot of times software engineers don't like to change the inputs between hardware revisions. (between Motronic 1.3 and 3.0) I thought you could just figure out which wires are what output and hardwire it.

I know, that is where I first heard about it. Unfortunately, neither of those kits are still available. Plus, this looks like a very difficult job, as you have to calibrate it. Unfortunately, BMP design doesn't do the kit anymore, nor does BavAutoWerks. So I'm kinda up a creek here, unless I want to tune it myself.
