View Full Version : Can the injectors on my '95 M3 handle all this.

Currently I have a 95 M3 with the JC shielded intake, Euro HFM, Turner Sofware, Borla track pipe, and AA Gen 3 Exhaust. I am thinking about getting a Westcoast Riots BBTB. I know this will lean the car out more. Do my stock injectors have anymore room in their duty cycle for this?

you can plug in your #'s and figure about what size you need... I messed with it... and the horsepower numbers seem to make sense if you put in wheel horsepower.. but by my calculations if you go by crank horsepower.. that would put the stock 19lb ers maxed out from the get go.. :confused that can't be right.. perhaps I did something wrong? :help
Their BSFC numbers are conservative, and the factory DME probably runs the injectors over 80% duty cycle right around power peak.
If you're already getting software I'd go ahead and get some bigger injectors. No point in straining your tiny stock injectors to keep up with the fuel demand when you're already changing software.

No they won't. I have a friend that ran those mods with the stock 95 M3 injectors and it cost him about 8 to the wheels. When he upgraded the injectors he freed up the hp.

OK, couple of things. Im not changing software. I have all the mods listed minus the BBTB. So when you said your friend had my mods and was already needing new injectors which mods were you talking about?
If I have to change software for larger injectors then so be it but I would like to just add the BBTB and be ok.

Stock inj's are 17.1 lbs/hr, I thought. He has a 3.0, right?

He was running the 540i HFM, UUC System U exhaust, Cosmos CAI, and Conforti software. So technically he had even less mods and the injectors were already maxed out. I think he run like 216 to the wheels, and when he changed his injectors he ran 223 or so.

What upgrade did he do. #21.5 or #24 injectors?

If you change injectors, you will, repeat will, need new software. AA has chips for the 21.5's, Conforti has chip for the 24's.

You're running Euro HFM and software with the stock injectors?!?!
Um, you need to change them regardless of the BBTB situation.

definately upgrade injectors. you may be at the limits already. it can be dangerous to run too lean. id get at least 21.5 inj. and new software. you will get better #s, and save your engine from being destroyed.

i dont think bigger injectors will make you fail smog. you could run 100lb injectors as long as your software is calibrated to run them. the software does the fuel maps, which determines the air/fuel ratio, which determines the emissions output.
get the bigger injectors and the software for them, and your car will run smoother, faster, and will still pass emissions. and btw, you cant see the injectors on a visual inspection any way, even if they wanted to look for them and could distinguish them.

Actually here in Brazos County in Texas we dont have emission requirements. Technically the law just states that any emission control devices origonally fitted to the car have to still be there. But there is not one inspection place in town that looks for anything. Heres how the inspection goes...
-He gets in the car and makes sure it goes foward and reverse
-Presses the brake pedal.....does the car stop.....
-Hits the horn
-Looks in a mirror to see if your brake lights work and headlights
-hands you an inspection sticker
