Hey guys, I've just recently developed a problem that I'm hoping you can help me diagnose. I have a 98 M3 with ~113k miles on it, and since its become cooler here in Jacksonville, there's a very loud droning sound when I start the car up. The sound lasts for several minutes, even if the car isn't moving, but goes up when the car is coasting to a dead stop. Also, when braking, there's a tremendous amount of vibration in the brake pedal.

The sound is coming from the engine compartment, but the belts appear fine. The car had a recent Inspection II (approx 3k miles ago/1.5 months). After the car warms up (5-8 minutes), it goes away until the next true cold start.

Mods include Dinan CAI, TB, 3.5HFM, UUC underdrive pullies, Stromung Exhast and a 3.38 differential (only go mods I have). All fluids appear to be in a relevant range, and no other problems that I can see/hear/feel.

Any ideas? Like I said, after the car warms up, it runs normally. Thanks in advance for your input. The only search results for "droning" were all for exhausts.

No kidding man! Did you get the fuel gauge working? Let me know if you need help, and by help, I mean someone to drink and supervise!

Oddly enough I went to lunch with some co-workers and they sat in the back seat and all of sudden fual gauge started working, so I'm guessing maybe a loose contact there.

You can still come out and drink!
