Unless you plan on turbo charging the motor, rebuilding it with stock components will be fine. The key will be to have all the parts hot tanked, magnafluxed and checked out by a reputable machine shop. You should replace the piston rings, rod bearings, main bearings, rod bolts, head bolts, misc gaskets etc.. I will be tearing down a 92 M50 motor (non vanos) over winter break and will post pics of the teardown. The motor has around 210k on it and am rebuilding it for a turbo application.

Not cheap, 1,500 dollars to 2,500 in parts would be my guess.

Why is Zionville Auto 2.8 stroker kit so cheap? It's like $500 and it has most of the parts needed for a rebuild. Is it just BS?

i dont think its bs. as far as i know its just stock m52 parts that fit in the m50. my guesses anyway.

if you're going to pay someone to do it anyways, why not call around your local shops and find out how much it will be for yourself? would be more accurate than anything we tell you
