As the tire shop guy, when you go through a big pothole, something should take the impact, it can be a suspension part, the tire, the wheel, the strut/shock tower, etc.
You can see how the rim and the tire took the impact this time.
I didn't put the spare as soon as thing happened, I drove 35 blocks to my place with a flat tire on the cracked front rim and a bubble on the rear tire. I know it's crazy but I did it... Do you think the tire on the cracked rim is toasted?

The tire very well may be fine, but it would also have been injured when you hit the pothole. It could now be seperated, or possibly have an impact break (bubble like you said in your rear tire). Either of these and the tire needs to be replaced. Sorry about that rim though, that sure looks painful..
*edit* take that back, I just saw you drove 35 blocks on a FLAT tire, which it is now probably "run-flat", which causes damage to the sidewall inside and/or outside of the tire. You should have definatly tried to get the spare on, you very well have to end up buying another tire becuase of that :(

Wow, looks like the wheel is beyond repairable. G-luck.

Ouuuuuuch! Sorry about that dood. What do those wheels weigh? That must've been a hell of a pothole.

I have bent on potholes around Boston my 17 MAS Italy rims, they are just too soft in material.
I also have a set of SSR 18 GTIIIS that I got on ebay. One was bent,
I got a very good deal and had it repaired, even though its 3 piece and they never said it could be repaired.
The SSR GTIII was worse than that one. I have the name of the place that fixed my rim...and does excellent work in MA.
Let me know and I will PM you.
Chances are that tire is now toast.....but you never know, fix the rim first have the tire evaluated second.

"Sumitomo tyres and they gotta be runnin flat" If you drive that much on a runflat, there will def. be some damage on the tire...

Here's the facts:
* The wheel is being repaired... Well, they're trying to repair it, I still don't know if they will be able to do it or not.
* The pothole is still there, a friend of mine saw an Acura crack one of its front wheels today. I will try to go there tomorrow and take pics.
* The 'run-flat' tire is FINE. Yes, believe it or not, it's fine. They took the wheel apart yesterday, inspected the tire, they told me it seemed to be fine, I just couldn't believe it. They mounted it on my spare wheel and it was perfect. I drove with that wheel yesterday and today, no problems at all, no leaks, no bubbles, no problems at all. Sumitomo rules. It's my new hero, lol. I still need to buy a new tire to replace the one in the last pic :(

Keep a very close eye on that tire, there is a VERY good chance it will develop side wall bubbles and/or blow out at the sidewall after driving that far on it, runflat or not.
Sucks Daved...that is a pretty bad bend. They might be able to true the wheel, but it will continue to be pretty weak in that area.
I would not trust the tire anymore.

So I went today to take pics of the pothole, they're already repairing it :( So no pics. It seems that I won't be able to do anything to get the city to pay me for the damage :(

It's not a runflat tire, lol... I was just making fun out of it.
I hope it doesn't develop bubbles, it's still good after 3 days of use and abuse ;)

I bet it will be but it's the third wheel I crack this way and they other two were repaired and I've been using them for long time. Yeah, I know it will be weaker than what it was but I don't think it will be dangerous :D

Guys, what do you think about the tire with the bubble?
Just in case you missed it:
http://200.26.26.43/pics/rim/IMGP1467_.JPG
The bubble is really small. Every other tire I have replaced because of this got a big bubble, this one is really small. Do you think I still should replace it? A new tire is expensive here, they are not as cheap as they are in the US, so my pocket would love it if I didn't need to replace it ;)

As much as I hate to say it, that means there is sidewall damage, it could blow out in 5 mins or 5 months, but it's almost guaranteed to happen. I personally wouldnt replace it until it blows, but just know that it WILL happen.

Dont think that repairing/welding wheels is always a good idea or that you will retain the original structural integrity.... :(

Yeah, I agree with you, there's sidewall damage but is it that guaranteed that it will blow up? How come you'd drive with it until it blows? :confused

Because I'm a cheap prick and would want to get as many miles out of it as I could and want it REALLY dead before I replace it.:)
And yes, unfortunately It will blow out, I have never seen a sidewall damaged tire NOT blow out eventually.

Just curious since I have those same tires.. what PSI were you at in the tire that developed the sidewall bubble when you hit the huge pothole?

They're custom remachined wheels, you're not going to find them anywhere ;)

40psi... I think I should go back to 45psi. What PSI do you run?

I didn't ask, I will find it out next week when I go to pick up the wheel.
BTW, I bought a new tire today... Oh well... I really don't want to run this kind of risks.
