what offset with BBK?

A friend of mine purschase a stoptech 14 inch bbk for his e36 m3 but his current bbs rkll 18"dont fit.He even tried with a 15mm spacer. What offset is needed and what wheels could be consider?

I have to use a 15mm spacer with my 17" RK and 13" Stoptechs. They are 35mm offset. I also have a set of 40mm RKs, but they won't clear even with the spacers.

the stoptech site should have templates on pdf that help measure wheel / caliper clearance

It doesnt depend so much on the offset, but more on the distance to the spokes. I have a 13in stoptech kit and it clears kosei k1 +40 offset with no spacers.
